We have started adding some new shows to our programming schedule. The first addition was last month with a hunting and fishing series produced by Kirk Dooms called Show Me Outdoor Advertures.

We are adding another fishing series produced by the legendary Glen Lau called Quest for Adventure which will be premiering September 27 at 10:00am eastern as part of our new lifestyle block on Saturday mornings.

Premiering this month is a series titled the Sunday Sampler. Each 1-hour episode features classic Gospel music videos from the 80's and 90's along with original performances. The first episode of the Sunday Sampler will premier on Sunday, September 21st at 6:00pm eastern.

There will be other new series coming this fall to the BlueHighways TV line-up including a series on Appalachian music and lifestyles called Appalachian Highways.

A newly produced series call A Living Rose where ordinary people get the chance to say thank you to those friends, relatives and even strangers who have helped them overcome challenges in their lives.

Old Country Church
IRA TUCKER
by Bob Bilyeu
When I heard about the death of Ira Tucker on June 24th, it brought sadness but also wonderful memories. Down in Dry Holler where I was raised, we didn't get electricity until I was 10. At some point my folks had got enough money together to buy us a battery-powered Silvertone radio from Sears and Roebucks. I was introduced to another world by that radio. Weekdays at 5:00 there was "Jack Armstrong, the All-American Boy." At 5:15 it was "Terry and the Pirates," and then at 5:30 my favorite, "The Lone Ranger." Then there were the scary shows. I still remember the opening of "The Fat Man" read more> >

I Could Have Been a Child Prodigy
by Stan Hitchcock

This was the late 40's and early 50's, I was just reaching puberty and radio was king. I don't know if there was any connection or not, but those love songs were starting to have new meaning, particularly local radio which always had great live shows in the early morning, at noon and then in late afternoon. I was very fortunate to grow up near Springfield, Missouri which had one of America's great radio stations KWTO, 560 on the dial, and an ever-changing stable of nationally known entertainers to expose a gawky, bucktooth country kid like me to the world of show biz. read more> >

America's Old-Time Country Music Hall of Fame
The 33rd Annual National Old-Time Country & Bluegrass Festival and Contest in Le Mars, Iowa held during Labor Day weekend, is one of the largest festivals of its kind in the upper Midwest, and this time there is an added bonus. During this week of music and fun, America's Old Time Country Music Hall Of Fame will be inducting music greats like the Blackwood Brothers Quartet, the Delmore Brothers and of course two of your favorites, Stan Hitchcock and Ronnie Reno.

Congratulations to Stan and Ronnie and all the inductees. Stan and Denise are attending the ceremony and we will post some pictures and a story of the event on the BlueHighways TV website when they return.

J. Gravity Strings
by Denise Hitchcock
J. Gravity Strings is a classic guitar sales and restoration shop tucked in the Soulard district of St. Louis, close to the silvery shadow of the Mississippi's Gateway Arch. The storefront building dates from the 1920s and looks to have slowly lost its commercial companions to warehouses on South Broadway. The reputation of J. Gravity Strings has the power of pilgrimage among musicians and we were preceded, just days before our visit, by Sir Paul McCartney. read more> >

The Lonesome Sound of Jerusalem Ridge
by Ronnie Reno
Let me start my story by introducing you to my good friend Campbell (Doc) Mercer, he is the Bandleader and Executive Director of the Jerusalem Ridge Bluegrass Foundation, host of the Cumberland Highlanders TV Show, a mandolin picker, tenor singer, veterinarian and chief cook and bottle washer and host of the festival at Jerusalem Ridge. I know you are thinking when does this man sleep? Well, when you carry such a passion for the music and vision for a festival you don't sleep until the festival is over. read more> >
