BHTV Recipe for Economic Stimulus
Healing America…one musician at a time!
By Denise Hitchcock

Last night I joined some friends at The Station Inn club in Nashville where we caught The Time Jumpers. What a spirit lifter! Their sound is an updated Western Swing, classic Bob Wills and jazzy rhythms. At a $10.00 cover charge and the price of a soda pop I had my internal "outlook meter" readjusted to Positive in no time.

This got me to thinking. If music gives me joy, then it needs to become a bigger part of my life as the daily economic news gets bleak; a teeter-totter balance of joyful music to bummer news that levels out my perspective. I compared my mood when listening to recorded music, radio, ipod, or cable channel versus experiencing live music, like my night with The Time Jumpers. Aside from the times when I pray no one is looking and I can listen to music and hop around the room in my own fantasy, the live music experience gave a quick, long lasting joy jolt, and one I could share with friends.

I propose an economic stimulus beginning with the musicians. Start local and grow - family, friends, community gatherings, your church and clubs. Toss a few coins in the case of the street musicians – then stay to listen. A cover charge is cheaper than a trip to the psychiatrist – and you can hum the tune for a long time afterwards!

Listen to a few clips of The Time Jumpers such as Pig Dog Hop or It's All Your Fault and dance, as if no one was watching!

Front Porch
Winter Time Blues
By Stan Hitchcock

Well, it's been mighty cold here in Tennessee. Down to 0 a few nights and only up to the 20's during the day. Suns been covered by heavy winter clouds and snow flakes continue to fall most every day. Denise went ahead and took down the Christmas Tree and packed everything up neat and proper, all against my complaints since I wanted to leave it up ‘til next Christmas. A New Year's Prayer……………..Anonymous
Dear Lord, Please give me….A few friends who understand me and remain my friends; A work to do which has real value, without which the world would be the poorer; A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not glazed: An understanding heart: A sense of humor: Time for quiet, silent meditation: A feeling of the presence of God: The patience to wait for the coming of these things, with the wisdom to recognize them when they come. Amen
