New this month on BlueHighways TV On Demand, sit down with Stan Hitchcock on Heart to Heart Classic and enjoy the stories and music from one of the best songwriters in country music, Dean Dillon. Dean, who is also a successful performer, wrote "Tennessee Whiskey" for George Jones and some major hits for George Strait including "Nobody in His Right Mind Would've Left Her", "Easy Come, Easy Go and "She Let Herself Go".

Tune in for Reno's Old Time Music Festival for some classic Bluegrass with Larry Sparks performing "John Deere Tractor and "Taking a Slow Train".

Coming in August you'll definitely want to look for new episodes of America's Backroads, which features a special presentation of Walden: The Ballad of Thoreau; and on Appalachian Highways look for a documentary exploring the ethnic diversity of the Appalachian region.

Tribute to Hank Cochran
I was setting at my desk a couple of weeks ago and I got a call from Frank Mull who works with Merle Haggard. He said Merle was in town and wanted me to come down to BMI and sing a little harmony with him for a surprise party for Hank Cochran. For those who don't know Hank, he is a great song writer here in Nashville.

Hank has written such songs as "Make The World Go Away", "I Fall To Pieces", "A Little Bitty Tear", "The Chair", "Don't Touch Me", "Ocean Front Property", a number 1 song for Merle called "It's Not Love (but it's not bad)" and many, many more. Read More | Send Feedback

Front Porch
by Stan Hitchcock

I've always loved the 4th of July. It's always meant homemade ice cream, watermelon, fireworks, bbq, friends over to sit under the shade tree and talking bout when they were growing up, having the veterans all be honored at church, and just good family time. This year was a little different for me.

Stan's Peach Ice Cream

Forget the mixes you see in the Grocery Store you gotta make it from scratch. Them things all taste like powdered milk which is a little worse than Milk Of Magnesia.
