THE OZARKS MOUNTAINS ARE NOT JUST A PLACE, THEY ARE A WAY OF LIFE.........Stan Hitchcock
To understand the meaning of the above statement, let me take you back to the 30's and 40's and explain a little of the history of the Ozarks. First of all, the Ozarks was a wild land that even the Indians only visited for hunting,
fishing and other necessities of life. You would need to go back to the cave man days to find people who actually lived here for long periods of time. Isolation would be a good description of the terrain, and that very character of the
Ozarks Mountains drew a particular class of settler, adventurer, pioneer....or outlaw. The phrase, "You can't hardly get there from here", was coined about the Ozarks.
