The Old Country Church
By Stan Hitchcock
Growing up in the Ozark Mountain's of Missouri I attended New Hope Baptist Church and New Salem Methodist Church which were both within three miles of our farm in Polk County. These great old country churches gave me a foundation to build

Bake Sale
I got a call, earlier this week, from my friend Geneva. It is bake sale time for the Historic Cragfont Pilgrimage
(www.cragfont.org) and I was assigned to provide tasty, homemade merchandise that could fetch a good price. Out came my copper recipe card box, the final place of honor for family favorites, and I started the critical sort. The
Cherry Almond Biscotti recipe kept me busy for a night – but I knew that I could sell a plate of seven for $3.50 and each batch would make enough for four plates plus the leftovers for Stan's and my morning coffee. Bake sales are a very
BlueHighways activity which involves everyone – you either bake for them or you brake for them!
