Music Break |
|
We took our cameras into Ricky Skaggs' Recording Studio with several great musicians and produced short music segments we air within some of our commercial breaks. These music breaks are a reflection of what BlueHighways TV
represents, real roots music. There are some great blues rifts, classic country, gospel and bluegrass music breaks; and each break has a different instrument featured, blues guitar, twin fiddles, mandolin, steel guitar and more. Here is
a sample featuring Ron Elliott on steel guitar playing "America the Beautiful"

No One to Fill Those Boots
In the last 10 days I have lost two very close friends, and the supporters of classic country music have lost two legends that were leaders in the creation of our beloved music. Porter Wagoner and Hank Thompson simply will never be
replaced or forgotten by anyone who loves this music called country.

Merle Haggard
I was at the office last October and I got a call from Merle Haggard, who I played with for years and who, to this day, remains a very close friend, and said he wanted to know if I would produce his next album. Naturally I said yes. He
had decided he wanted to record a bluegrass CD and wanted me to head up the production.

50 Million Year Old Blue Highway
Many blue highways found their origins as animal traces, worn down migratory paths devoid of pesky vegetation. These trails marked the most convenient
route between shelter and nourishment – similar to the modern carpet path between couch and the refrigerator. Morrison, Colorado could boast of one of the oldest blue highways ever found, Dinosaur Ridge. More than 300 dinosaur footprints
have been unearthed, along with fossilized bones of some of the big guys – Apatosaurus and Allosaurus. The footprint field was once a sandy beach now tilted with the upheaval of the Rocky Mountains.

Thanksgiving is the holiday of peace, the celebration of work and the simple life... true folk-festival
that speaks the poetry of the turn of the seasons, the beauty of seedtime and harvest, the ripe product of the year - and the deep, deep connection of all these things with God. ~Ray Stannard Baker |
