More than a road...It's an American Journey!
|
|
We are continually looking for new ways to provide our unique programming to more and more
viewers; we are working to expand our Video-on-demand platform which launched earlier in August, we are adding more
show previews to our website, and we are negotiating with other distributors to make our programming more broadly available. Ours is a very loyal and vocal audience and the viewer comments we receive and the phone calls you make to
your cable or satellite providers are very helpful and we want to thank you all for your support.

BlueHighways TV available On Demand |
|
Ever wish you could watch BlueHighways TV programs on your time schedule? Viewers who subscribe to Bresnan Cable Communications in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado are the first in the
country to have the most popular programs from BlueHighways TV available 24 hours per day on Video On Demand (VOD).
BlueHighways TV VOD offers 20 hours of programming just a "click" away! Look for: Bluegrass on "Reno's Old Time Music Festival"; the rich tones of an Old Country Church on "Gospel Sampler"; In Praise of The Family
Farm on "American Journeys"; the cowboy poets of Sourdough, Beefsteak & Beans on "American Backroads"; and a video version of the national public radio show "Woodsongs". Songwriter's showcase their hit-song talent on
"Heart to Heart" and find out who has the stuff of modern legends as "Due West" celebrates western life-style. And there's quality shows for the children with "Janet's Planet" and "Storyteller's Theater".
Check it out! New shows added to the schedule monthly!
We plan on offering our BlueHighways TV VOD nationwide, and we'll be coming to a cable system near you soon!
Show News
In other show news, we have had a lot of positive response to our specials on Jim and Jesse McReynolds and we are currently planning additional specials for this fall
with other bluegrass and classic country legends. These new specials will be placed within either "The Reno's Old Time Music Festival" or
"Heart to Heart Classics" because RFD-TV has discontinued our "American Journeys" series at least through October. We are talking to RFD-TV and hope we can have the series back on in November. Be
sure to check the schedule area on our website for more details regarding our programming on RFD-TV.

Survey Results |
|
The results from our subscriber survey last month are in and we truly appreciate everyone who responded. We will continue asking our audience what they think about our programming because it
helps us serve the viewer better. One of the most common comments about the survey was the desire to choose more than 1 series and to rank them…so we will do a follow-up survey in the fall which will allow you to better voice your
opinions.
The most popular series, as stated by you the viewers, was "The Best of Reno's Old Time Music Festival". You will be happy to know we have produced some new episodes of the Reno show and are planning more in the
coming months. However, the viewer's choice of the Reno show as a fan favorite has created a problem here in the office as Ronnie now wants everyone to call him the
"king of the hill".
Recorded live in Pigeon Forge, TN, this 4 CD set is a special tribute to the country music legends of the 50's, 60's and 70's. Over 75 classic country hits such as:

SUMMER VACATION ALONG THE
BLUE HIGHWAYS
Stan Hitchcock
Mid July, hotter than blue blazes in Tennessee so my family and I decided to load up and head North to Wisconsin and camp along the Mississippi River. Our 18 year old son, Scott, is getting ready to enter College in a few weeks so this
was a time for he and I to spend some good time together on the river and catch some fish. The fishing was fantastic and we had caught and released so many small mouth and large mouth bass that I lost count. On the last day I threw a
lure into a deep water hole and something just exploded on the end of my line. I was fighting a much bigger fish than I was expecting and after much excitement I finally got the monster fish next to the boat. I had caught a 15 pound
Northern Pike.

Now they don¹t have fish like this in Tennessee so I was about to learn something new in regards to "catch and release". I reached down, like I always do with the bass I catch in Southern waters, to catch the fish by the lip to remove the
hook and set him free. Turns out Northern Pike have teeth about like a Pit Bull dog and when I got close to his mouth he bit down on my thumb and tried to bite it off. "Catch and Release" took on a whole new meaning!..reversing the
releasor and releasee. I now have a new scar on my thumb to remind me of a wonderful week of camping and fishing along the blue highway and to be careful of the dreaded man-eating Northern Pike. However, it did give me a good bit of
storytelling around the campfire.

On the Road with Ronnie Reno and the Reno Tradition |

Ronnie Reno and 4 yr. old Ethan Whitehair |
|
It's with great pleasure I tell everyone about our trip to Hoover-Y-Park in Columbus, Ohio on the 30th of July. We have done this show every year for the pass five years and I think it is one of the greatest causes
that we can do for generations to come. The show is called Musicians against Childhood Cancer and it's a benefit for research and financial aid to the families and victims of the disease. So far we have raised $265,000.00 for
the St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis. I want to thank Darrel and Phyllis Adkins, whose daughter Mandy lost her battle with cancer in 2000, for thinking of this and doing all the work each year it takes to put on this show and
keeping the memory of Mandy alive. The neatest part of the show was when the show started off with our youth band playing together for forty five minutes; the band was almost seventy five strong, in fact I have a picture of one of the
bandmates, Ethan Whitehair from Lexington Ohio, with me. If you want to know more about the show go to
www.bluegrassclassic.com and get involved with us for this worthy cause.
Thanks and I hope to see you on the BlueHighways soon,
Ronnie
Weddings along the BlueHighways!
October is the month for tying the knot, and more couples are choosing to have their weddings reflect a BlueHighways experience. Historic and scenic locations are growing as choices for couples, as they bring people together in a beautiful
place, that many have wanted to visit! Our BlueHighways experience was traveling to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, just south of Nashville, for the wedding of Ronnie Reno's oldest son, Brandon to his bride of choice, Kelli Smith. The setting was the historic Oaklands Mansion, currently restored and open to the public as a preservation of life in the mid 1850s. The vows were given on the
front lawn with the Italianate arches of the mansion framing the couple and the minister. Dad and brother gave a gift of music to the couple while paying tribute to their famous relative, Don Reno, when they sang
"All That's Worth Remembering" There wasn't a dry eye! And how does a BlueHighways TV wedding end? With a reception of Bluegrass music, naturally!
