Driving along the back roads this time of year is a very revealing experience because the leaves are off the trees and you can see for miles and miles in the Tennessee hills. The creeks seem to run with renewed vigor…the early morning birds seem to sing just a little louder…the deer are very active with their yearly love rituals…the wild turkeys are just gorging themselves on what is left of the weed seed…and I…..well, I'm just glad to be alive and living in the grandest land in the whole world.

Special Christmas Programs
As we were choosing what to program this December, through the Christmas holiday, it was decided that we would emphasize more of our gospel music throughout all of our shows. The Gospel Sampler has two Viewer Choice specials this month along with a Christmas special on the 20th featuring the Silver Dollar City Bell Choir and a Bluegrass Gospel special which airs on the 27th.

Story Behind The Song
and
Questions & Answers

by guest columnist Doug Davis

Life is funny...only in Country Music can you break a date and end up with a hit record.
{story behind the song}

QUESTION: My dad's favorite song was "I'll Sail My Ship Alone." I have no idea who the artist was. Do you know his name and when that record was out?
QUESTION Back in the early 80's, there was a song on the radio about "Your Wife's Cheats On Us." Do you know the correct title and the artists name?
QUESTION: I know the song "Ramblin' Rose" was a big pop song. My mom says some guy also had a country hit on the song. Is that correct?

Everybody here at BlueHighways TV hopes all of you had a safe and filling Thanksgiving. We have received a tremendous amount of positive viewer e-mails on our Jim and Jesse McReynolds specials that have been showcased on Reno's Old Time Music Festival over the past couple weeks, the final part airs the week of Dec. 6, and because of the great comments, we will be putting together more specials this coming spring on other legendary bluegrass artists.
There are also two brand new Reno episodes this month; on the 13th one new episode features the claw hammer banjo playing of Mike Snyder and on the 27th we will feature David Parmley and Continental Divide.
A good way to end the year!

Coming on December 16th look for a special Heart to Heart which will feature classic interviews with Buck Owens, Charlie Daniels and Waylon Jennings. We received a lot of positive feedback on the Dolly Parton and Keith Whitley special so we have some high expectations for this new one.

By the way, the segments for these specials are also available in the Heart to Heart Collection which you can purchase at our
Country Store
Heart to Heartalso has a 1-hour special airing on December 30th with special guests Tom Brumley, Cal Smith, Ronnie Reno and Buck Trent.
