2010
has arrived and we are wishing you all a fantastic New Year! Let’s
continue to look forward and focus on the positive aspects in each
of our lives. Take time every day to be thankful and grateful for the
people in your lives – family, friends, loved ones, colleagues
and those that help to make your lives better. Remember that a smile
and the words “Thank You” go a long way!
One
person Brumby and I are so thankful for this year, is our newest
addition… our son Brogan. Brogan Tosser Broussard joined us
on November 4th at 11:41am. He weighed 7lbs 10oz, and was 21 ¾” long.
He has filled our days (and nights) with love, smiles, cuddles
and amazing wonder in his big, blue eyes. We hope you all get to
meet
our new little man.

Let’s
support one another this year so that we all come out victorious.
Please remember to shop the local stores that support your community
and to support small businesses. Entrepreneurship fuels America’s
economic innovation and prosperity, and small businesses need
your support. Here at Mixture we love to see familiar faces.
And while we’d love to fill your home with our furniture,
original art and interior design services, we also love being
your “go-to shop” for cards, candles, books, jewelry
and gifts. We want to thank all of our loyal customers for continuing
to support us!

Out with the dull
grays and all white rooms… 2010 is the year
of color. I've noticed that we're all excited and optimistic and so
are the colors of the season. Be on the look out for bright purples,
chartreuse, yellows, pinks and blues with subtle tones of mint, peach
and cream to ground us. There's also a huge hand-made movement with
an arty atmosphere, giving new life to otherwise typical interiors,
it's giving everyone the opportunity to own a one-of-a kind piece at
any level. We have handmade art pieces starting at only $40, not to
mention the incredible art collection we currently show. Motifs and
prints are also big, you can add this fun surprise in a flamboyant
wall paper or a colorful piece of local art. I love "
Juliet" by
Tim Caton!
And if you can't commit, try throw pillows or a colorful vase - it'll
brighten your day.

When you’re inside your home, your walls define you. When you’re
outside, where do you want to be? MAMAGREEN furniture allows you to
enhance the spaces outside your home, embellishing the beauty around
you. You’re not taming the world around you – rather adapting
a small part of it. From the 15 collections and more than 180 different
pieces, you can fashion your own casual living space.
In 2007, two Belgian guys with a world of experience in all facets
of the furniture business, CEO Erik de Winne and designer Vincent
Cantaert, launched the MAMAGREEN outdoors luxury brand. Immediately
the MAMAGREEN experience and eco-fabulous designs created a buzz
in the casual furniture market, winning a devoted and ever-growing
number of passionate fans. MAMAGREEN, incorporated in Belgium, targets
the high-end spectrum of leisure lifestyle products and is currently
being sold worldwide in most European countries, The Americas, Australia
and Asia.
The MAMAGREN Eurasian design team, winner of various design awards,
operates out of its manufacturing facility in Indonesia. The 300
dedicated artisans working there use only top of the line materials
in the leisure goods they produce, thus making it possible for
you to choose furniture whose materials enhance the value of your
space
and life – recycled teak, stainless steel and the best and
most durable of outdoors fabrics, slings and coverings.
The pursuit of excellence at MAMAGREEN goes beyond the product itself.
Major commitment to eco-friendliness shines through with the recent
attainment of FSC certification for recycled teak products, a sure
sign that the company is fulfilling its vision of excellence. A fusion
of good business sense and ecological responsibility proves that
the making of the finest furniture and adherence to principle do
go hand in hand.

Since childhood
Michel
Andrade remembers being inspired by colors and texture. After
a short stint in the fashion industry she felt a call
to paint. With very little formal training, she began to experiment
using her hands & other applicators, layers, chemicals, and compounds
to get color and texture. She discovered her unique voice through this
process and has continued to mix mediums, oil, and now wax on canvas.
Her colorful and edgy work has brought about an exciting new career
and quickly growing following. |

MDF Italia Spa is a Milan-based furniture designing and manufacturing
company. Since its foundation, the company has been characterized by
an innovative and dynamic business and product strategy. Efficiency,
internationalization, identity, are its distinctive features which
have led to its entrepreneurial success.
“The removal
of what is not essential, and the intense search for simplicity
has resulted in the creation of functional and visually
pleasant products: simple is nice. The end result of this continuous
work of research can only be a hard-to-reach but dynamic balance
between the tension of subtraction and the need to add to products
only what is essential to be understood. Great is the effort to imagine
the space where our clients live, and strong is the intention not
to invade it, to respect what exists with the awareness that slight
interventions mean quality of life. Thin is the thread connecting
objects, rhythms and pauses in neutrality.”

Spanish
designer, Patricia Urquiola's creative flair, innovation and confidence
in her designs are just a few of the many reasons her work is critically
acclaimed.
Patricia
Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain and now lives and works in
Milan. She graduated from Madrid Polytechnic in 1989.
Between
1990 and 1996 she worked for the new product development office
of De Padova and with Vico Magistretti. From 1993 to 1996 she had
an
associate practice with architects de Renzio and Ramerino and was
engaged in architectural design. In 1996 she became head of the
Lissoni Associati design group, working for Alessi, Antares-Flos,
Artelano,
Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Kartell, and others. At the same time,
on her own, she designed for B&B Italia, Bosa, De Vecchi, Fasem,
Kartell, Kettal, Liv’it, MDF Italia, Molteni & C., Moroso
and Tronconi and designed stands and showrooms for Knoll, Moroso,
Sag 80, and Somma. Her products were selected for the Italian Design
2001 exhibition and for International Design Yearbook of 1999 and
2001. With such a crowd clamoring to have her work with them it's
little surprise she's such a force to be reckoned with. At the
2006 Design Awards she was crowned furniture designer of the year.
She
is currently conducting her professional activity in her own studio
in Milan in the fields of design, exhibitions, art direction, and
architecture.
Here are a
few of Patricia’s great designs available here
