Because the fall/winter months are "off season" for weddings, many of the facets of a wedding (venue, food/beverage, entertainment, etc.) are less costly than during peak "summer" wedding season.

A destination wedding in the fall and winter allows the happy couple and their guests to travel (particularly from colder climates) for their special event. PLUS, San Diego is closer to many honeymoon hotspots.
