ArtSpan Benefit Art Show and Auction

Don't miss your chance to bid on more than 140 works of art from local artists in both live and silent auctions and enjoy delectables from Thomas John Events catering at ArtSpan's Annual Benefit Art Show and Auction, Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Electric Works Gallery, 130 8th Street, SF.

ArtSpan is pleased to announce Glen Moriwaki, Professor of Art at City College of San Francisco, as an Awards Juror. Moriwaki received his BA, MA, and MFA degrees in painting from UC Berkeley, where he was awarded the Eisner Prize in Fine Arts.

SF Open Studios 2008 artists can purchase a full-page ad at a discounted rate for $1,030 (regularly $3,000). New this year, artist half page ads for $600 (compared to $1,350)! Commitment and payment is due March 22nd.

  • ArtSpan Members are invited to submit to Rayko Photo Center's Juried Photography Exhibition "Something Old, Something New," Deadline: April 19, 2008. RayKo Photo Center and ArtSpan invite you to participate in our Members' Juried Exhibition from July 18 - Aug. 28, 2008. You must be a member or become a member of ArtSpan to enter. This exhibition will highlight four artists: two traditional media and two new media. Eligibility: ArtSpan Member working in traditional photography (gelatin silver, chromogenic prints, etc), historical processes, or digital media. Submit up to ten images. CD entries ONLY. You may not submit work that has been shown at RayKo Photo Center in the past. The four selected artists will be notified by phone. Send the completed entry form with your CD to:

  • ArtSpan Members are invited to "Securing Your Data" Seminar by Larry Dieterich of Macintosh Paramedic. Learn creative ways to make sure that your important files are safe and available to you when you need them. Common-sense, low-cost, effective computer security will be discussed and dissected. Thursday, April 17th, 6:30-7:30pm at California College of the Arts, SF Campus.

  • Sports Basement, 1590 Bryant Street at 15th is happy to announce the Galleria Del Grotto, SB's very own art gallery, will highlight local artists each month in a theme-based exhibit. If interested, please contact Wendy Scott at wscott@sportsbasement.com.
  • Deadline: 3.28.08 and 3.39.08. $30 fee. O'Hanlon Center for the Arts invites artists to submit work for the April 2008 show "It's Not Easy Being Green," juried by Diana Marto.   • Deadline: 3.31.08. Napa City-County Library invites artists to apply to a juried competition with award winner's work displayed in the Napa Main Library.
