30 Under 30 Exhibition

ArtSpan, California College of the Arts and Varnish Fine Art Gallery collaborated to produce "30 Under 30," a juried exhibition showcasing the next generation of Bay Area Artists at Varnish Fine Art Gallery, 77 Natoma St. Opening Reception: Thursday, June 5, 2008 from 6:00 - 9:00pm. The show runs from June 5 to June 28, 2008. Juried by Kerri Stephens and Jennifer Rogers of Varnish Fine Art Gallery and Justin Giarla of the Shooting Gallery. Congratulations to:

Premier and Participating Artist Bulletin: The Place to Go to Know Your Arts

All announcements are from 2007 SF Open Studios Artists.


  • Bonnie Dominguez presents her work in a solo show at Muse Photo Studio, 224 6th Street, now until May 21st. By appointment only. Call 415-626-1580 / 415-863-1170.
  • Kellyann Gilson Lyman presents a solo show of "ice cream art, a fresh look" and will collaborate with SF community partners, including shopping at their host, Sports Basement, 1590 Bryant Street, SF. Get your summer groove on. Ice cream art exhibition dates June 4-22.
  • Adele Shaw, board member, will present new work in a solo exhibition "Nature would never do anything like that" at Venus Gallery, 627 Cortland Street, SF, from June 13 - July 26, 2008. Opening Reception: Saturday, June 14, 2008.
  • Maxine Solomon will be showing work in two solo shows this Spring. During May, June and July, her paintings will be featured at Jackson Place, 1 Jackson Place, SF. The second show will be at the Multicultural Art Center in Merced, CA. This show opens on Jun 5 and runs through August 3. Artist Reception: June 13.   • California Institute of Integral Studies and ArtHouse are proud to present the work of David Trachtenberg's artwork in the Fifth Annual Emerging Artists Exhibition.   • Deadline: May 21, 2008. Root Division invites Bay Area artists who are 1st and 2nd generation immigrants to the US to submit work for an exhibition titled Insider/Outsider. The hope of this exhibition is to draw a broad range of artists working on themes of identity, ethnicity, migration, and place. Call 415.863.7668 with questions.
  • Deadline: May 30, 2008. California Fine Art, the juried show of the California State Fair, seeks entries from California artists aged 18+. Entries must be contemporary and completed within 2 years prior to deadline. Over $21,500 in prize money will be awarded. $20 entry fee per artwork. Prospectus, Rules Handbook, and Entry Form available at www.bigfun.org (click on "Competitions" and scroll to "Fine Art" then click on the word "Handbook").   • Deadline: June 6, 2008. The Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI) is pleased to announce that the Guidelines and Application Forms for Round III of the Investing in Artists grants program are now available for download at www.cciarts.org/funding.   • Deadline: June 20, 2008. The 2nd Annual Tiburon Art Festival, to be held on August 23-24, 2008, is seeking artists to show and sell their artwork. Applications are available online or call 415.435-2351 or 415-435-4355 to request on in the mail.
  • Deadline: July 10, 2008. The San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design's Museum Store is seeking entries in a variety of mediums for their show Birds and Their Dwellings. Contact Raymond McKenzie at 415.773.0303 with questions.
  • Deadline: Open. Interior Design and Retail Showroom, located in downtown San Anselmo, is seeking artwork from local artists to display. Contact Mara Galliani at mara@studiohomedesigns.com.
  • Deadline: Open. YWCA at UC Berkeley Exhibition Screening. 2-month exhibitions. Media: drawing, graphics, painting, photography, mixed media, printmaking, textiles, watercolor. $5 fee.
