1 2009 SF Open Studios Rates and Deadlines

Please note these important changes to the registration process:

  • Artist registrations will ONLY be accepted via the online registration site, available at www.artspan.org in March 2009.
  • ArtSpan will accept ONLY digital artwork images. Slides will NOT be accepted.
    * Premier Artist Members must submit one 300 dpi, CMYK TIFF file (for the printed Guide) and one 72 dpi, RGB JPEG file (for the online Guide)
    * Participating Artist Members must submit one 72 dpi, RGB JPEG file (for the online Guide ONLY)
There are two levels of registration for SF Open Studios. Please be aware that artists that sign up AFTER MAY 8 will NOT be included in the PRINTED version of the Guide magazine.
  • Premier Artist Membership
    • March 31 deadline, $170 (Early Bird Discounted Rate)
    • May 8 deadline, $185
  • Participating Artist Membership
    • August 21 deadline, $125

ArtSpan Event Dates: Mark Your Calendars!


Mark your calendars for the following ArtSpan events in 2009:

  • Thursday, February 26, 5-8pm: ArtSpan Mixer at Dick Blick Art Materials Store, 1414 Van Ness Avenue. Enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages, product demonstrations, and the company of other artists and ArtSpan staff, board, and committee members. No RSVP required, Evite invitation to be sent shortly. All are welcome. This is a FREE event, so bring your art-loving friends!
  • Saturday, March 14: ArtSpan Benefit Art Show & Auction, the bay area's premier visual art event, at SomArts Bay Gallery, 934 Brannan Street. Tickets are available online here and by calling (415)861-9838.

Download the 2009 ad reservation form to learn more. The deadline for the early bird discounted rate is March 23, 2009 (for payment and completed form). The deadline for the regular rate, completed form, and all ad copy is June 15, 2009.

Premier and Participating Artist Bulletin: The Place to Go to Know Your Arts



All announcements are from registered 2008 SF Open Studios Artists.
  • Philippe Jestin was interviewed by Dormain Geyer of Arteaser. Click here to view and purchase his art designs on T-shirts.
  • Alan Mazzetti will show his Wine Foil Series at the Plaza Art Center, 130 Plaza St., Healdsburg, now through 2/1. His artwork will also be presented at the Berkeley Art Center' Member Showcase, 1275 Walnut St., Berkeley.
  • Erika Meriaux's artwork will be presented in the group show "POP POP! FIZZ FIZZ!" at Femina Potens Art Gallery, 2199 Market, now through 2/1.
  • Liz Mamorsky will be included in Reclaim, Rework, Recreate: The Gotthelf Goes Green now until 2/25/09 at Gotthelf Art Gallery, 4126 Executive Dr., La Jolla.
  • Ari Salomon will present his new panoramic cityscapes from Japan in SF MOMA's Artists Gallery at Fort Mason, 2/4/09-3/13/09. Reception (date changed): 2/5/09, 5:30pm-7:30pm.
  • Maxine Solomon will have 11 large paintings exhibited in a solo show at the Plaza Gallery, 555 Market, now through 3/14.

  • Deadline: 3/2/09. The 28th Annual Morro Bay Harbor Festival Poster Contest invites you to design a poster based on the theme "Up Town, Down Town, and Sailin' Around" celebrating Morro Bay's diverse offerings. Visit www.mbhf.com for more info.
  • Deadline: Postmarked 4/1/09. SBA Women's Caucus for Art and SomArts Cultural Center invite California women artists to submit work for "Control," an exhibition to be juried by the Guerrilla Girls West.
