Tow Truck Drivers Don't Like AAA
Hmmm...How Quickly Do You Think Unhappy Service Providers Will Assist AAA Members?
The other night, my partner and I stopped at Target on our way home from the airport to pick up a few supplies. The roads had been pretty sketchy all day, thanks to an ice storm, and it was getting late,
but we figured it would just be a quick stop. When we returned to our car, we discovered that we had a flat tire--and our attempts to take care of it were completely unsuccessful. We called BWC, and the repair guy came out. While he was
changing the tire, he and I started chatting. He asked how I heard about BWC. I told him that I heard about it on Car Talk, and he then exclaimed, "This is the world's best auto club."

GOOD NEWS: NO U.S. CAR MAKES BETTER WORLD CLUB'S GAS GUZZLER SURCHARGE LIST
WHILE NO AMERICAN CAR IS ONE OF 3 WORST GAS GUZZLERS, WE'LL HONOR AN AMERICAN CAR ANYWAY
CONGRATS TO THE HUMMER H2!
No Need to Thank Us. We Love Our Country. It's Just the Kind of People We Are.
Better World Club is one of the few, if only, companies in the U.S. which takes environmental impact into account when setting our prices--even if it has no impact on our costs. Better World Club
surcharges consumers who own one of the 3 worst gas guzzlers 20% on their membership fees. (At the same time, we discount our membership fees for alternative fuel vehicles.)
This year the three worst gas guzzlers are:
- The Lamborghini Marcielago, on the list every year since the gas guzzler surcharge was first instituted in 2005.
- The Bentley Azure made the list for the second year in a row.
- The Bentley Arnage RL, which had appeared on our 2006 list, dropped off in '07, but is back again.

Are You Interested In National Park Annual Passes?
Better World Club would like to offer annual passes to its members at a discounted rate, but the National Park Service has advised that they must be sold at the full retail price of $80 per pass. So,
since we can't offer them at a discount, we were thinking of bundling the passes with free carbon offsets and selling the package at $80.
Is this something you might be interested in? Please reply back and let us know.

911 Is Not a Joke
If You're Stuck and it's an Emergency or Dangerous Situation, Call 911 First
It's winter and many of you are buried in snow, stuck in the mud, or just plain cold. Please keep in mind that if you are in a dangerous situation, the local police may be your best option. When you call our emergency
number, the first thing we'll ask is if you are in a safe place. You are the best judge of your own safety. In many places across the country, tow truck companies only respond to police calls during extreme weather. Should you find
yourself paying out-of-pocket for a police-dispatched tow, please contact us for reimbursement. A claim form can also be found in the
member login section of our website. |

2008 Democratic Presidential Candidates and the Environment
We'll Feature the Republican Candidate(s) Next Edition
On a slow environmental news day back in October, we took a moment to compare the
environmental stances of the 17 presidential candidates running at the time. Since then, 12 of the candidates have dropped out of the race. As a follow up (on another slow environmental news day), we've decided to do a more in-depth
analysis of the remaining candidates, starting with the Democrats.
Senators Clinton and Obama have similar policy stances on many issues. So much so that it can be difficult for the average voter to differentiate between the two candidates. Thanks to Better World Club, however, you will be able to
compare the two candidates' environmental platforms side-by-side and get a clear idea of which Democratic candidate is the "greenest".
That was the idea, anyway.
Unfortunately (or, fortunately, depending upon your point of view), the candidates' environmental plans are similar. Very similar. This makes differentiation difficult; but on the positive side, both plans are light years ahead of
anything we've seen in the last seven years.
