CHIROPRACTIQUE

CHIROPRACTIQUE is an Urban Retreat, a space for people to escape from the day-to-day hustle and bustle, with massage chairs, herbal tea, hypnotic music, appealing natural visuals, cool art, interesting magazines and good energy from fantastic professionals who ensure superior healthcare. Chiropractique differs from other offices because they vet out and appeal to the masses as a non-traditional alternative health care practice, serving professional athletes, hipsters, drag queens, ministers, TV stars, soccer moms, stay at home dads, computer nerds, roller derby goddesses, hip hop dance heroes, corporate executives and the list goes on!

Dr. Beau, who founded CHIROPRACTIQUE, said he has relied on chiropractic care since he was six years old. As a young boy, he had terrible asthma, and was on heavy doses of medication. A family friend recommended he see a chiropractor and within two weeks Dr. Beau said his asthma disappeared. As a dancer he continued to seek chiropractic care to keep his body in good repair, but in college, like many a starving student, he could not afford the price of regular chiropractic care. That is when Dr. Beau decided that what he wanted to do was become a chiropractor and run his own practice with affordable prices.

Following his intuitive path Dr. Beau founded CHIROPRACTIQUE and developed a collective of professionals who he swears are the most talented, incredible group of people he has had the privilege of working with. What makes this collective unique is that they want to ensure their members receive incredible care that they can afford and that it will be consistently effective! Just like exercise, it is vital that patients develop a steady routine, and even though their standard fair only costs $35 (after the $75 initial visit), the wonderful staff at CHIROPRACTIQUE understand that financially, that is not always a possibility. What they have done is develop the Karma Box, a non-traditional payment plan where patients are asked to leave at least something. Inside the box, you'll find flowers, thank you cards, unused gift cards, food, etc. It's karma, so everything is welcome, and of course, one good deed leads to the next.

Speaking of karma, Dr. Beau proudly recognizes that 90% of his business comes from recommendations on Yelp.com. In the business of health care, he realizes that the Chiropractic profession's key to success is through word-of-mouth advertising, which is why it is pertinent that they always put their best foot forward. For this very reason Chiropractique has become the guru of social media marketing. Dr. Beau has over 2,000 friends on his personal page at facebook.com, and one of his creative promotions includes challenging his friends to develop a sentence with his word of the month – a challenging chiropractic term on the fan page (www.facebook.com/CHIROPRACTIQUESD). The person with a winning sentence receives a free massage. Chiropractique also contracts with a social media expert, Kelly O'Laughlin (aka Twitterface), who has helped them recruit over 1000 followers on Twitter and 800 on their Facebook Fan Page.

CHIROPRACTIQUE celebrated five years of fabulousness on May 5th of 2010. Dr. Beau chose their location because he loves the neighborhood, the beautiful building that he feels lucky to have acquired, and because he likes the "feel" of El Cajon Boulevard. Dr. Beau believes that The Boulevard has the best urban vibe in San Diego, a lot of potential for further revitalization, and he admires that it is not too congested. Their office is also right next to the beautiful Lafayette Hotel, so how can you beat that?

Bike the Boulevard

Get on your bicycle Saturday, November 20th for the very first Bike the Boulevard, a day of cruising, art, music and drink specials at some of El Cajon Boulevard's hippest business locations. Starting at noon, the Live Wire will have their doors open early to kick off the festivities. Stick to the schedule, because every hour between 12pm and 6pm, the event will travel, and so will the bicyclists. Continue east from Live Wire, and stop by Pizzeria Luigi's, Bedouin Vintage, the Media Arts Center, Soda Bar, Eleven, and Til Two, the former Beauty Bar.

Bike the Boulevard is not only a great event to celebrate the independent, creative business culture of El Cajon Boulevard, but to support the bike community! Bicycling is a fun, healthy, eco-friendly form of transportation, and with that, bicyclists are being rewarded for the patronizing the Boulevard. Along with an event designed to promote bike culture, each Bike the Boulevard participant is soon to become a member of the SD Commuter Business Discount Program, offering discounts to anyone who shows up on a bicycle.

Yelp About the Boulevard

Eleven
3519 El Cajon Blvd

Yelper: A great place to stop in for a beer and park your butt on a stool.

The folks slinging drinks are more than kind. In fact the first time I walked in I was offered half a dozen small samples of beer I hadn't tasted, 4 songs in the jukebox, and a bowl full of peanuts! SOLD!

Everytime thereafter I have visited this bar which gives a small vibe of a dive, but the beer taps, and quality of live music suggest otherwise, I am more than satisfied.

The last time I visited it was 5 dollar Bear Republic beers.... keep the glass... AND 4 dollar refills. You can't beat that!

Featured Art on the Boulevard

Written by Save Our Heritage Organisation (SOHO)

Normally we recognize architecture as an embodiment of our history and culture. But there are times when objects do that as well. It could be a lamp post, neon sign, or even an old curb or sidewalk. The sidewalk at 4730 El Cajon Boulevard has a terrazzo surface that was once the entrance to the State Theatre, designed by renowned architect S. Charles Lee. This terrazzo is a beautiful surprise for pedestrians to come upon. It is an oasis of color and design interrupting the expectation of ordinary gray sidewalk. Besides serving as art in public, it is an important thread in the fabric of El Cajon Boulevard History.
