2008 Match Play Tournament
The Heron Lakes Golf Club 2008 Match play begins in May. One round will be played each month until only one player remains – sign up now and see how many months you survive. All entries must be received by April 28th.
All matches will be completed by the end of each month. If you schedule a match and do not show up you are disqualified and your opponent advances. Any match not completed will result in both competitors being eliminated. (NO
EXCEPTIONS). The higher player in the bracket should schedule his match. Winning players will post the results of their match on the board in the club house. All scorecards must be turned in for handicap purposes. Mark scorecard as a
match play and designate tees played. All match plays will count as a major tournament score and will count towards the required 5 rounds to be eligible for Major Tournaments from July thru November. YOU MAY NOT COMPETE IN STROKE PLAY
AND MATCH PLAY SIMULTANIOUSLY. USGA RULE 33.1..33-1/6
Field will be limited to the first 64 players. If we have 32 players or less we will have an upper bracket and a lower bracket with the lowest seed in the upper bracket getting the byes. If there are more than 32 players we will flight
the tournament with the same high and low brackets. Byes go to the lowest qualifiers (lowest handicap player in the bracket or flight). If we have two flights the flight champions will meet to determine our MATCH PLAY CHAMPION.
In the event of a tie after 18 holes there will be a sudden death playoff starting on the 1st. tee of the course the match was held. Continue on until there is a winner. All prizes will be awarded at the banquet prior to the TURKEY SHOOT.
Matches will be played on either Great Blue or Green Back courses. You may play from either white or blue tees. If competitors cannot agree on the course or the tees then the default course and tees is the GREEN BACK COURSE BLUE TEES.
Include a contact phone number on the sign up sheet. Players will set up their own matches during the month. Be flexible. You may play during regular Saturday play. If so designate as a match on the Saturday sign up sheet so you can
play as a twosome unless we have a full field of 100 players.
HANDICAP ALLOWANCES - as recommended by the USGA
Allow the higher-handicapped player the full difference between the Course handicaps of the two players; the lower-handicapped player plays from scratch. For example, a player with a Course Handicap of 17 receives four strokes from a
player with a Course Handicap of 13. He receives them on the holes allocated as the first four handicap stroke holes. Use the Men's Club green cards for hole ratings. Current USGA handicaps will be used.
