March 19, 2010 Monthly Recovery Team Workshop The Monthly Recovery Team Workshop will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010, from 9 a.m. until noon at the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board. The agenda is available at www.tjriverteam.org. Restoration Team to Host Visioning Workshops The ultimate success of the Recovery Team will be in identifying a vision for the future of the Tijuana River Valley and implementing the projects necessary to make that vision a reality. The need to create the vision is important to all four action teams as they begin to implement their projects. The projects identified by each action team must align with the overall vision. The Restoration Action Team is moving forward with its mission of developing that vision by hosting the first of three special visioning workshops beginning with one in April at the Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center. The time and date are being determined. All Recovery Team members are welcome to attend. Grants Web Page Has Been Updated The recently updated grants page at www.tjriverteam.org now has three sections: 1) Time sensitive grants, 2) Ongoing grants, and 3) Grant applications submitted. As of the date of this publication there are currently 10 grant opportunities listed, with awards available from $2,000 to more than $1 million. County to Host Waste Tire Cleanup The County of San Diego has applied for a grant to host a waste tire cleanup and amnesty event. Anyone wishing to get involved should contact Jen Winfrey at 858-874-4020. U.S. EPA Seeking Advisory Committee Nominations The Good Neighbor Environmental Board is seeking applicants for board membership. It is a federal advisory board based at EPA that advises the President and Congress on border environment and infrastructure issues.
