Mama na Dada Update

Joyce Oneko from Kenya was in town - and any time I can be around her thrills my soul.

Together, (I paid $50 forward to Elizabeth) Elizabeth Stevenson and I brought in Mama na Dada into WMN to support all she is doing in her village, and all she is doing helping many women from other villages take on projects that can improve their own village.

Together we thought of a tea for those who knew her through Conscious Evolution and Carolyn offered us her home. So we met and truly it was SO INSPIRING. I could write a lot about that tea.

There was one guest who had just met Elizabeth and wanted to meet Joyce, as well as learn about WMN. I also invited another woman named Cat. Knowing Gloria's husband (the one guest) was from Liberia (actually Ben's father was from Liberia, and his mother is from Cote D'Ivoire; Ben was born in Guinea) invited us both to the Everyday Gandhi Event. What they are doing for Peace at the grass roots level is way more than even the UN was able to do. Truly, they are creating a model for a village (city) to recover from war and help the combatants and the entire town heal form 14 years of devastating war. They touched moved and inspired me........BIG TIME! And in a few days I will ask if they wish to know more about the WMN. I so pray I can support them into funding their visions.

Gloria's husband was moved to tears as were many of us, as he is from Liberia (linked ancestrally to Liberia, and was working in Liberia during the time of the war, later forced out of the country after witnessing many atrocities. He still claims Guinea as his home since it is his birthplace. He was sent to France at the age of 11 after his father died and attended school there culminating in college work at the Sorbonne. It was after then that he returned to West Africa and learned of the struggles in the region. He therefore has what he calls a "global African view" due to his knowledge and experience living in his own indigenous culture in Guinea, surviving the wars in Liberia, heading a school in Cote D'Ivoire, and now working to assure human rights education thoughout Guinea and the West African region moving through grassroots networks... a very lonely and often unwelcomed and unappreciated effort...yet one that is growing everyday with AframGlobal. His work is primarily related to Guinea, but Liberia as was noted in the meeting is a border country to Guinea and they share many tribal and family connections), and has been working solo doing tremendous things for Liberia. BUT THIS DAY - he was able to meet other Liberians and a non-profit who are making huge strides for peace. He found FAMILY. He is no longer alone.

It was a privilege to be there and witness the synchronicities of one small event....or I should say of me who listened to my inner voice when I got my 3 in 30 day bonus. My voice said call Elizabeth. And offer $50 (paying it forward ) to bring in Joyce's village - then the tea - then Gloria.and Cat....and on it goes....

I treasure that day when I was at their event if no other thing comes from it....knowing of an organization that is tiny and making a HUGE DIFFERENCE on the planet.

Note from Gloria:
I am sure that Ben will be connecting with Everyday Gandhis to learn more about their work and possible connections in which such work can be replicated in Guinea. I see a wonderful regional possibility here as the work of both organizations are replicable and have potential for regional impact. Yes, small initiatives can have big ripple effects. Chance encounters are indeed always a chance!

My chance encounter with Elizabeth, and now with you and wonderful others, has led to other chances including the opportunity to be involved in WMN and to bring others in... that will be forthcoming soon!
