Q ~ How do you collect overdue payments? I have been told the check was in the mail. I have been told that the customer would contact the bank to make sure the check had not been stolen and cashed by someone else. I have been told the customer was busy along with the promise that they would send a check to me that same day. The problem is the same person recently gave me all these reasons and I still have not been paid!

How do I handle this? Should I bring this up over e-mail, on the phone, in person? Wait til she calls me? What do I tell them?

QPB ~ Financial integrity is one of the not-so-tasty ingredients floating in this human soup I'm going to label Our Reality. What I do with dilemmas like this is to roll it around until I can see the side that shows me what a great Gift it is. As in, "Thank you for dropping this Big Gift in my lap Perfect Client! You shouldn't have. No really you shouldn't have...Well okay, if you insist. Thanks! Just what I have been asking for! Now I can Humanly practice Doing the Being."

Each choice has its own attributes. I would say the timing and method of contacting your client needs to be chosen via what feels most right to you. If you are able (even a little bit) to see this situation as a Gift, you could look at this as an opportunity for your own growth and pick the way that stretches your comfort zone. An easy way to Do this is to sit with each method/timing and go with the one that gives you the "least queasy feeling".

What to Say, what to Say...There are many words to choose from of course. The most important thing - again, looking at this as a Gift - is as you are composing what you want to say, you are Aware of where YOU are coming from. Your own personal Big Picture vision-of-what-the-world-could-look-like, so to speak. A way to tap into your vision would be to first sit with your values, and then let your response flow from that place. I have no doubt you will find the perfect words to express yourself if you begin there.

One last thing...After your conversation with this client, no matter what the outcome, please take time to acknowledge your willingness to Live Consciously. This commitment is how the world will truly become an easier place for Everyone to Be!
