Getting off our Buts.

As I was writting last month's newsletter, I found myself thinking about how invasive the word "But" has become in how we view our ability to go for our dreams.

I thought it would be interesting to explore the topic and I am. I am open to the unfolding where ever I travel, and have had quite a number of interesting things reveal themselves to my journey.
AND
Since one-on-one coaching is part of my travels, I put out a call in last months newletter for my willingness to give someone the gift of a couple of months of one-on-one coaching if this particular subject was something that resonated with them.

When I work one-on-one with a client, I don't choose the topic of what a client wants to be coached on. I support the client as they explore the topic of their own choosing. So this was not something I wanted to ask of any of my existing Clients.

Welp...
not much happened.

Here is a sampling of one response...

I so well remember that every great idea I thought I had, my mother would wait for me to tell me all about it, then smile and say "but......."

This became so ingrained in my thinking that even now, at my ripe age of 55, I STILL hear that "but......" when I have a flash of inspiration, or an idea, or a creative thought......

I am sooo tired of "But......". I need to rid myself of the "buts" and go ahead with some of my dreams and ideas.
But...
no one was ready to do anything about it....
Yet.

This is Good. In fact this is Perfect in the context of
Plan Be. I really mean it.

I'm grateful that you allow me into your life at all. I am grateful that you allow me to support your journey in any way shape or form that feels right to You.

I'm always creating something, I will always be creating something...

Just like you...
Just like All of Us are
always Doing.

Mantra of the month

FOCUS
AND
FINISH

Dear Diane,

I just tuned into your website. My "life-garden" certainly needs weeding & decluttering and [ your web site] was just what I needed to get me started. The challenges to go beyond the surface into source has been my recent intuitive work, since my life seemed to be getting out of control...
and my home was reflecting that also...
My mantra now is to FOCUS AND FINISH!

Trying to stay with a project until its finished (even though I have many interruptions and limited space) so that
my life seems complete and satisfying..not so fragmented and disarrayed & cluttered.......

Sending you warm rays of sunshine and joy to your garden, TURQUOIZE

P.S. Calling all mantras! Share your TWIGs (Talented, Wise, Illuminating Gifts) with others. I'm collecting your Twigs for a new page on my web site. Together we can Be the tree!

What's your mantra this month? Email me with yours.

Love,
Diane

DeCluttering for Creatives: Metaphor and Meaning in Creative Spaces

A few weeks ago, my best friend Marney Makridakis and I presented two teleclasses on the topic of "DeCluttering for Creatives: Metaphor and Meaning in Creative Spaces."

Because both classes filled to capacity so quickly, and many other folks on the waiting list were not able to attend, we wanted to make it possible for everyone to STILL have some time with Marney and me -- and get inspired to change your creative space FOR GOOD!

So we've put together a "virtual workshop" version, where you can literally take the workshop in your own home, in your own time-frame...whenever and wherever you want!

The virtual workshop contains a high-quality audio recording of one of the original classes, so you can literally experience the live workshop first-hand. You'll also get a 12-page workbook that takes the concepts in the call and distills them into a doable, step-by-step process that you can start RIGHT NOW!

We've set the price for the eBook and recording at $19.00, but until January 15, we're offering it at an introductory discount of just $9.00. This is a modest price that covers the expenses of our converting the course into this new format, but also makes it accessible for those who were on the original waiting list to experience this powerful workshop first-hand. The workbook and audio link are delivered immediately upon ordering, so you can literally be inspired within minutes!

Here are a few comments we received after our two workshops in December:

"Was this workshop really only an hour? I felt like I spent an entire day with two experts who hit me over the head with what I finally needed to hear. I feel in control and excited for what's coming next. Thanks, Marney and Diane." - Brenna

"When I took this class with Marney and Diane, something awakened in me, something crucial and powerful and quite wonderful. I suddenly felt empowered to not only see my clutter in a new light, but actually have both the motivation and the know-how to DEAL with it, once and for all. I've made great strides from this class, thanks to Marney and Diane's teaching style and the very helpful workbook." - Irene

"Hi Marney and Diane, Thank you both for pushing me in the right direction of decluttering my studio. Although I have not started yet, I definitely have the urge to start as soon as possible! I am glad to have been reminded that there are ways to solve this problem, other than moving or throwing in a burning match! lol.. So many thanks, and I hope to be able to tell you very soon: "I did it!" -- Dorit

"The insights and exercises were so enlightening...I see a light at the end of the tunnel, thanks to your wonderful guidance. What a wonderful holiday present to myself, a fresh start!" -- Kathy
The direct link for the "DeCluttering for Creatives" virtual workshop is here.

What better way to usher in the New Year than an inspiring introduction to a hands-on system to get to the bottom of both internal AND external creative clutter! Whether your creative space is a full-size studio or a TV tray in the corner of the kitchen, the happy future of you AND your space are worth $9.00, yes?

If our workshop feels "right" to you, I hope you'll take this leap right away to get your year off to a great start (and save ten bucks in the process!)

On behalf of Marney and myself, I send open and flowing best wishes to you for sumptuous, sacred spaces in 2005. Thanks so much for wanting to Cultivate Life!

BenevolentPlanet.com here are links and suggestions on how you can support the Tsunami relief effort no matter where you are Right Now.

For a mind-boggling but surely comprehensive, global list of what's happening, what's needed, and potential options for helping: tsunamihelp.blogspot.com

Another good collective info site: tsunamivictims.org

To contribute to a large group donation to the Red Cross through Amazon.com: Amazon.com

For a list of individual organizations that are already in the region and taking online donations: usaid.com

If you're determined to send goods and not cash, please read this, then go here for what and where to send.

Some things you can do where you are:
  • Check with the faith community (churches, temples) in your area to see if they are collecting goods or need help sorting.
  • Also check with your area Lions Club.
  • Raise funds among any group you belong to.
  • Ask your favorite local business -- coffee shop, car wash, etc. to donate a portion of receipts to the cause for a certain time period, and offer to distribute flyers, web postings, and notices to local media to draw customers.
  • Ask your local bookstore or cybercafe to host a fundraising event (they can pass a can for donations or charge a nominal admission) with readings, art displays and music that express world compassion.
  • Ask your chamber of commerce to develop a list of its members who will donate a portion of receipts for a certain time period; offer to help publicize the list via flyer distribution, web postings, notice to news outlets.
  • Ask your community leaders to organize a memorial ceremony.
  • Ask planners of fundraising events or festivals scheduled in your community for January to designate tsunami relief as the fund recipient, either in whole or in part.
  • Identify people in your community who lost loved ones and do a kindness for them.

Books I Love

The Gift of Change : Spiritual Guidance for a Radically New Life

Wow! What a book to have in my possession as the information literally poured in from the Tsunami disaster in the India Ocean.

This time Ms. Williamson explores the the subject of Change.

How some things we want to Do...
because they seem so big...
so huge...
so overwhelming to tackle...
we Don't.

We just keep pushing them to the "back of the drawer" so to speak, because we already have so much to Do. Her number One suggestion about how to keep up our strength in these fast paced, one-crisis-after-another times, is to learn how to slow down!

A women of my own Heart!

Change appeared in the most extreme fashion to over 150,000 members of our global community...
which rippled out to their families...
which rippled out to us...

I am grateful hear about all the outpouring of support, the positive things, that are happening because of this latest disaster. Let's keep it up. Read The Gift of Change : Spiritual Guidance for a Radically New Life for inspiration of how to Do this.

Ask And It Is Given: Learning To Manifest Your Desires
I have many, many best friends who have been inspired by the work of Esther and Jerry Hicks. And still, I never got around to check it out myself. Now I know why. I needed to receive their work through the perfect people, my best friends and artists Bill & Debbie Rolig.

The combination of the information contained in this fabulous book, combined with the perfection of the people who gave it to me, brings tears to my eyes even as I write this. Thanks for this gift my friends. I LOVED it.
