Everything begins with a thought.

Hi !

Diane ArmstongDid you notice that this month's mantra encourages us to practice seeing our inner world as the canvas, and our outside world as the palette: "a thin board or slab on which an artist lays and mixes colors"?

Looking around my outer world right this moment, I must admit it wouldn't take much for me to convince my inner self that most things are gray in every way.

Yet instead of resigning myself to use the only color I see, I've been practicing how to lay and mix color right on top of the gray.  Turns out gray is the perfect backdrop for any color I put there.  In fact, the gray actually makes every color feel more vivid and lively.

From there it's been easier to just go ahead and just throw some paint on my inner canvas rather than standing in front of it fearful of making a mistake.

And want to hear something amazing?  As I finished that last sentence and looked up from my computer screen, a golden sun beam was streaming through my window.  Only moments before it was gray.

All in all, this mantra seems tailor made for the winter months, eh?  Thanks Margie, it really lead me to a better feeling place! What colors are you adding to these winter months?  Please send me your stories, I never tire of this stuff!
