Mantra of the Month
I'm not in a rush.
Living in NYC, it's sometimes hard not to get caught up in the rushed pace but I find that by repeating these words, I'm less angry when someone cuts me off or pushes me to get on the train first, etc.

Books I Love
Water for Elephants: A Novel by Sara Gruen
This is a book about circus life in the 1920's, told from the viewpoint of Jacob, a ninety year old man. Or is he ninety three? Lately, he can't quite remember.
Jacob now lives in a nursing home, but at age 21, he impulsively and unwittingly jumped on a circus train after his parents died in a car accident just days before his college graduation.
Though rather grumpy toward everything and everyone, there is a tender side to him that one nurse is able to see. Her kindness, and the fact that a circus sets up just outside his doorstep, sets Jacob off on a journey that weaves past and
present together just in time for one more adventure.
It is a story that grippingly portrays circus life, human relationships in every form, and even address' animal rights. A must read. |

Luck of the Irish?
Hi ,
My family is proud of its Irish heritage, especially on my husband's side. One tradition they lay claim to is the Sacred Armstrong Parking Privilege.
I was first introduced to this concept not long after I met my husband in 1981. The Sacred Armstrong Parking Privilege is a Gift that allows us to always get a premo parking place. No matter how scarce, no matter what time of year.
Here's how it works. When it's time to park we say...out loud (this is a key component), "I invoke the Sacred Parking Privilege." Then we slow down, and tune every sense into knowing we are going to receive the perfect
spot. That's all there is to it!
I can't remember exactly when I tried it for the first time because time has a way of blurring the details of every good story. However, I do remember one day early on thinking the reason it was working for me was because I married into
the family. Just another bennie that came along with being connected to such a great guy I guessed.
Fast forward to when our son James was about 11. We live at the beach, and one summer day a mom was driving her two sons and James into town for an afternoon of sun and surf. Parking seemed to be non existent and the group found
themselves circling round and round the blocks looking for a spot.
Debbie, the mom whom I had not yet formally met, finally verbally expressed exasperation about the situation. From the back seat James said, "I'll just invoke the Sacred Armstrong Parking Privilege." Much like the parting of the Red Sea,
a parking space opened up in front of them as soon as the words left his lips.
Debbie said she knew then and there we were destined to become best friends! And we are!
And there's more! Debbie found that the Sacred Parking Privilege worked even when an Armstrong wasn't in the car! Since then, whenever someone laments about a frustrating parking experience within my earshot, I always give them this
Gift. I now bestow it on you too . Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Hope to see you soon...

When we feel peaceful, it's easy to say we want more peace in our life. Until something stressful happens... and all thoughts of peacefulness are instantly replaced by something else. What is your default reaction to stress?
Anger? Fear? Tears?
These emotions do nothing to help you feel calmer (well except maybe the tears). Even so, I'm sure you are aware, over time these emotions are actually harmful to your body. Given that stressful situations are all around us every day, why
not put them to good use?
This is where a touchstone is helpful. Much like the proverbial string-on-a-finger, a touchstone serves as a reminder of who you want to Be. And when you can be who you want to Be in a stressful situation...? Well, all I have to say is try
it and feel the difference for yourself.
To register, call me at 410-251-7701 or send me an
email. Register and get a coupon for 10% off anything in the store for 30 days!
