Welcome |
|
Welcome to the first edition of The Evolving Self, a newsletter for those committed to a path of growth and ever expanding consciousness. I believe we are spiritual beings having a human experience. The opportunity
for growth exists in every moment as we move through life and bump up against each other constantly. An ever present process that is pushing our buttons and raising our unresolved issues to awareness. The presentation of an opportunity to
grow can inspire us to learn more about ourselves and each other, and to make choices that reflect our intentions rather than our conditioning.
The Evolving Self offers opportunities to learn and grow through the sharing of insights and learnings as revealed upon my own spiritual path. I hope you will join me on this road of discovery and please forward this to your friends.

Book Review: Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert |
|
"The only place the mind will ever find peace is inside the silence of the heart."
A monk says this to Elizabeth in response to her request for help with meditating. That one sentence speaks volumes to me as I have been reminded so often of late that the workings of the mind, it's resistance to the present moment and to
accepting things as they are seems to be the source of a good portion of my pain and anguish in life. Not that the journey from the head to the heart is an easy one, but how rewarding it is when I actually achieve it, one moment at a
time.
I LOVE this book. It is a wonderful blend of the author's experiences while traveling in Italy, India and Indonesia AND flashbacks on her lengthy and painful divorce which prompted her to travel in the first place. It reveals the author's
progress along her spiritual path --allowing the reader to enjoy her sense of humor and her insights, but more than that it is a model of the profound experience of growth possible for an individual who is open to it and actively seeking
it. It's a great example of what The Evolving self is all about. Growth is often not pretty and not pleasant. But I often know at the same time that it is leading somewhere pretty and pleasant and that makes it all worth it.
