Affirmation: I am one and connected and whole.
Quote:"It was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim observed, "God Bless Us, Every One!"

The Meaning of Christmas |
|
I was watching an old re-run of MASH recently and of course, it was a Christmas theme. There was a cease-fire in place so there were no wounded soldiers arriving. The whole 4077 camp was having a party.
Unfortunately, there was one wounded soldier who was brought in and Hawkeye and Hunnicut worked diligently to save his life. When they found out the soldier had small children at home, they increased their efforts so that the man wouldn't
die on Christmas leaving his wife and children with that memory for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, the man wasn't going to make it, so they literally pushed the hands of the clock forward to the next day.
While Christmas is associated with so many wonderful, uplifting feelings, for many people it is challenging at best and at worst is depressing and sad. There is so much personal history involving family and former spouses wrapped up in
this one day. Expectations, resentments and loss abound.
While I have been one of those who has experienced depression around the holidays, I realized when that familiar feeling started to emerge again, that my life is really so very good today. This thought, that I have something to be
depressed about is just habit and I can make a conscious choice to be joyful instead.
After watching the MASH episode, I started asking myself what Christmas meant to me. It's about making a difference in someone's life. Bringing peace where there was only sadness. To sound like an old cliche, to me Christmas is about
selflessly touching the hearts of others.
It is my hope that you and your families re-member who you are in this holiday season and experience what Christmas truly means to you.

The Heart of Christmas |
|
Like most children, I couldn't wait for Christmas. I dreamed of opening beautifully wrapped packages to find the most wonderful toys, games and dolls that would make me happy. Even at a young age, however I remember
getting a sinking feeling because the actual gifts never matched the dream I had of them. Through my whole life, I've never told anyone that I had this experience, but I'm telling you now, because I know now that what I was looking for in
those packages was a part of myself. Me!
So much of the Christmas experience now revolves around material things. This is no news to anyone, I'm sure. Dr. Seuss gave us the Grinch as a wonderful example of the transformation that is possible when we re-member the
heart of Christmas.
But more important is the experience I have in my life the other 364 days of the year. Rather than looking outside myself for something to fill a hole inside. I can choose to live my life knowing that I am whole, complete and full exactly
the way I am.
I work individually with people who are choosing to learn to have a healthy relationship with themselves and others. Please
