Are You Afraid?

How have you been affected by the economic downturn? It seems everywhere you look, people are losing things: jobs, homes, financial security. The fear seems to have become a free floating anxiety that permeates the air, the energy that underlies our days and nights. Personally, I have been very affected by what's going on...it seems my whole life right now is characterized by uncertainty.

Here are a few things that are really making a difference for me.

1) Keep Breathing
One of the most important things to do when you feel fear is to calm yourself. When you're in fear, you don't have access to the very resources that may help you work through whatever problem is in front of you. Deep breathing is what helps calm us and reintegrate the reasoning mind.

2) Mind Your Mind
If I'm telling myself, "I can't handle this", "This shouldn't be happening," or "Why me?" chances are, I won't be able to handle it and my body will be "reacting" to the fearful messages of disaster and catastrophe I'm sending it. Focusing on all the possible disastrous outcomes and "what if's" is a misuse of my precious inner resources. When I look around and notice what is good in my life right now I'm indicating that I want more of it. Calming and coping thoughts that help, "This too shall pass," "I have everything I need right now," "When one door closes, another one opens."

3) Speaking Consciously
Sometimes a part of me wants to exaggerate my situation to gain sympathy from others...it's only human nature to want attention. Speaking deliberately and consicously means that I am mindful of the creative power my words have in my life. Powerfully stating my higher truth leads my energy and action to that end.

The upcoming workshop on Affirmations will be addressing these skills. I hope you will join me on March 14 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Click here for more information. Don't put this off until things get better, things will get better when you are in alignment with your higher truth! See you there!

Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway by Susan Jeffers, Ph. D.

The good news is you're not alone. Everyone on the planet deals with fear. According to Susan Jeffers, if you don't feel fear it means you're too comfortable. Whenever we step out of our comfort zone, we will feel fear. The trick is to manage your fear so that it doesn't paralyze or disable you from action.

Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway according to Jack Canfield "Should be required for every person who can read!" That's a pretty strong testimonial. It's true. If we accept the fact that feeling fear is a part of the human condition, then we have to find a way of dealing with it in a reasonable way. Ignoring it or allowing it to take control is not an option.

There is so much to be afraid of! Yes, it's true, especially right now.
Difficult times call for a change in the way we do things. This book gives great information on where and how to start.
