I Love and Accept Myself Exactly As I Am |
|
Are you able to say this out loud to yourself without shirking? If not, you
may have low self-esteem. Maybe this is not new news to you. Low self-esteem is one of the most insidious and under diagnosed issues in our society. It's not that you wake up one day and say, "Gee, I have low self-esteem, I better do
something about it." It's more of a sad, negative weight that pulls down energy, hope, and motivation. Most people who have low self-esteem don't even realize how much it is effecting them because it's always been that way. It
cunningly disguises itself as anger, narcissism, depression, anxiety and apathy. It contributes to issues in all areas of life, relationships, work and family.
Many of us compare our insides to other people's outsides. Other people appear to be well-adjusted, highly-functioning and happy. It brings home the painful reality, that that is not where we are. We start questioning, "What's wrong with
me? Why am I so different? Why can't I be happy?"
On more than one occasion I have come face-to-face with my own low self-esteem. I tried all kinds of things like working harder, finding the right relationship, the right house, the right car, the right...you get the picture. Eventually I
realized that this was not something that could be made better by adding things from the outside. Finally, I had to make a decision to love myself. I had to face my negative, critical inner voice and all the parts of me that had
been conditioned to believe that I wasn't okay the way I am. Loving ourselves is an inside job. I'm happy to say that today I can say that I love and accept myself exactly the way I am and I reaffirm this truth on a daily basis.
Many of the programs and services I offer including Relationship Skills, the Affirmations Workshop and individual coaching address these issues and much more.

The Most Often Overlooked Resource |
|
I was a tomboy as a child, very athletic and coordinated. I was expected to excel at sports and I did. It seemed like anything I tried, I could do if I worked at it. Eventually, this experience translated into other
areas of my life. I went through life believing that if I just knew what to do, I could achieve anything, fix anything, be anything.
There are some issues however, that can't be fixed with physical, emotional or mental resources. There are some situations that are out of our control. It is at those times when we reach our limits, when we run into brick walls, one
obstacle after another that we can tap into the most often overlooked resource, Spirit. The source of our deepest values, our greatest truths, our Higher Self, where all the answers reside.
This resource is only available to us however, when we release attachment to the outcome we want. This of course, is one of the most difficult things you can do. It involves trusting our Highest Good to something non-physical, something
unseen. But sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is let go. That is when spirit can step in to do its work.
One of the best ways to let go is to allow ourselves to feel the feelings we have when life doesn't give us what we want and we lose what we are attached to, it's called grieving. This is an area I have worked on extensively myself and one
in which I am offering coaching services. Please call to set up a 30 minute consultation at no charge if you think this might be helpful for you.
