The Definition of Insanity |
|
The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. Well, then I guess I am insane. There are some situations and people in my life that I've had to go to great
lengths before I was able to let go. To learn a lesson, sometimes it takes a lot of insanity before sanity comes. Are you guilty of this as well?
There is one particular relationship in my life where this has been true for a very long time. I was once again faced recently with the reality that this person wasn't going to give me what I wanted from them. It felt like I had been
stabbed in the back. AGAIN! However, the more I processed the situation, the more I realized that if anyone had stabbed me in the back, it was me. The other person was just being who they are. Why would they suddenly be different? It was
like I was going to the hardware store looking for milk. It's just not available there.
What a gift this insight has been for me. I can finally let go of seeking approval from someone who can't or won't give it. Today, I have the awareness, the tools and the ability to make a different decision. Making a different decision
for me means I find healthy ways of getting my needs met and perhaps even giving to myself. What a novel concept.
If you are challenged by relationships in your life and negative patterns that repeat, consider
Relationship Skills for Individuals coming up September 22.

Affirmations Have Changed My Life |
|
Would you believe that using affirmations on a daily basis has changed my life? It might sound simplistic...how could saying positive things about yourself to yourself make that big a difference?
I know and have experienced what not loving myself looks like and feels like in my life. I have experienced the results of it in my relationships and my work. Learning to love myself has been a process which started with a decision but has
been reinforced daily by saying loving things to myself in the form of affirmations. I have quoted this before from Louise Hay, "When we love ourselves, everything in our lives works."
Of course there's more to it than simply saying words out loud. How we say them and integrate them into our life is a huge factor. It's really a way of life. When you pray for patience, does God give you patience? More often you receive
situations in which to practice patience. Well, this is also true with affirmations.
When I say, "I completely and totally love and accept myself exactly the way I am" guess what happens? Situations occur in my life that give me an opportunity to practice self love. Through these situations and practice, I learn to
become more self loving. That is how affirmations have changed my life.
Join me in the journey for the upcoming workshop,
