Dear Golden Eagles,

It is my sad duty to inform you that Mrs. Claudia Aitchenson, wife of RADM George A. Aitchenson, passed away early Monday morning on December 15th, as George and their son Kent were at her side as she peacefully slipped her earthly bonds in their San Diego home. Claudia put up a very courageous fight against cancer, that appeared two years ago, always maintaining her cheerful disposition and optimistic outlook. Even while fighting her illness, Claudia would join The Golden Eagles West gatherings at every opportunity and considered The Golden Eagles her favorite group. George will let us know about funeral service arrangements later, anticipating services after the holidays about 15 January 2015. I will follow up with a Special Notice.

In Sadness, Don Boecker- Pilot

CLAUDIA PRINGLE AITCHESON

November 22, 1933 December 15, 2014

Claudia was born in Oakland, CA to George and Florence Pringle. She attended Oakland Technical High School and University of California, Berkeley. In 1954, she met Ens. George Aitcheson who was stationed at Moffet Field and visiting his flight training buddy Ens. Donald (Dirt) Pringle. They were married in 1955 when he returned from a WestPac deployment and had 59 wonderful years together. Claudia is survived by George, 3 children Jay, Kent and Carol and 6 grandchildren.

While in high school and college she enjoyed ice skating and belonged to a skating club that competed. Later she enjoyed playing tennis, and eventually took up golf. During her Navy years she was a very active volunteer in our Navy Relief organization. Claudia enjoyed painting and painted a number of Hawaiian scenes while stationed there.

Claudia was a very upbeat and cheerful person, always putting other people first. The Golden Eagles and Tail Hook were her favorite social organizations and she enjoyed the reunions because she got to see so many of her East Coast friends.

Heaven has gained an angel.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Pacific Beach Presbyterian Church, corner of Garnet and Jewel, San Diego, CA. There will be a reception to follow the service in the building adjacent to the church. Immediate Family will conduct a funeral and interment service for Claudia at the Miramar Memorial Cemetery.
