Hi -

Sorry for the last minute tip this month; we've just returned today from a two week family trip to visit friends in Germany and I wanted to get this out to you before the holiday...

A Better Way to Organize and Manage What You Find Online

You're surfing the Web. You find something valuable... an article, a press release, a list of contacts, an agenda for an upcoming conference, some background on a prospect you've been courting, whatever.

What do you do?

Most of the time without even thinking you bookmark the page in your list of Favorites, along with the hundreds of other sites you've found over time... or you print it out, and add the page (or pages) to the pile of paper in your office where it gets buried and forgotten.

Either way, nine out of ten times the information falls out of sight and out of mind, its potential benefit lost.

Enter Furl, a site that lets you bookmark, save, and access useful pages you find online from any computer connected to the Internet. Available at no cost, Furl is a great tool for collecting business intelligence, categorizing it so you can find it easily, and adding notes to what you save so days or months later you can remember what it was about that page you found so valuable in the first place.

To get started visit http://www.furl.net and open an account (all you have to provide is a user name and password, and a valid email address). I recommend you also download and install the Furl Toolbar into Internet Explorer or add the "Furl It" button to your browser. Either one will let you quickly save pages you come upon to your account with a single click.

What I like most about Furl is that if you work with others, it offers you a single, central place where everybody on the team can collect (and access) information that's relevant to the group. So if you want to know what's on the Web about a new product you're considering for your clients, or when local trade groups like Rotary, Kiwanis, or chambers of commerce are meeting (in order to plan your schedule), you can ask your assistant or intern to dig around and save the pages that provide that information. Then you only have to go to one place to get it all.

And here's another great benefit... once you copy and save a Web page to your Furl account, you never again have to worry about those frustrating "Page cannot be displayed" or "File not found" messages popping up in your browser because the original has disappeared.

Knowledge is power, and the ability to leverage knowledge faster than the next guy is one of your best competitive advantages. Furl can help you do that without spending a dime.
