You sounded off, Mobility 21 listened
Last month we asked: What is the most important topic to cover at the 2009 Mobility 21 Transportation Summit? Overwhelmingly, respondents said that all four choices listed should be covered: the future of
transportation funding; greening transportation; long-term solutions for relieving congestion; and moving goods more efficiently. Other suggestions included what's ahead for high-speed rail, creating a paradigm shift in transportation, the
future of toll roads and sustainability in transportation. Mobility 21 has begun planning the content of this year's Summit, Making it Work: Planning and Funding Southern California's Transportation Future, and will use your feedback to
make this year's breakout sessions even more relevant and informative. Sponsorships are going fast.

Mobility 21 welcomes Advisory Board Members
Mobility 21 is proud to announce our first Advisory Board members: Michelle Boehm, Business Development Lead Southern California Transportation, CH2MHill and David Solow, CEO, Metrolink. Mobility 21 is actively seeking
partners to join our Advisory Board, which is comprised of executives from public and private sector organizations that want to provide input to
Mobility 21's Executive Board and have an impact on the direction of the region's transportation advocacy. Advisory Board members receive important legislative and policy information from Mobility 21, attend quarterly meetings with the
Executive Board and have the opportunity to attend exclusive Mobility 21 events. For more information on how to participate in this exclusive group, contact Executive Director Marnie O'Brien Primmer, 213.580.7549 or

Mobility 21 represents Southern California at exclusive goods movement roundtable
Mobility 21 Executive Director Marnie O'Brien Primmer attended a two-day roundtable discussion on goods movement hosted by the
California Foundation for Economics and the Environment. This invitation-only discussion included leaders from ports, shipping, rail, trucking, warehousing and retail as well as environmental and labor leaders and policy makers at the
local state and federal level. The group built on the work done through the Multi County Goods Movement Action Plan and tackled issues such as how to create a vibrant goods movement sector while protecting the environment and training the
workforce in new "green jobs." Hasan Ikhrata, SCAG Executive Director and Mobility 21 Board Member, addressed the group, providing the framework for the two-day discussion.
Mobility 21 addresses Camarillo Chamber Business & Legislators Forum
The Camarillo Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Business and Legislators Forum on May 15. Mobility 21 Executive Director Marnie O'Brien Primmer was joined by Sen. Tony Strickland and Dick Castner, U.S. Chamber of
Commerce, in addressing the group. Strickland provided insight into how the state's budget negotiations unfolded and what voters can expect post-special election. Among Strickland's ideas for reform are moving from a one-year to a two-year
budget cycle and requiring legislators to spend more time in their districts to interact with their constituents. "Transportation funding as we know it must change," said Primmer. "While we do want to see technological advances and
behavioral changes that will lead to reduced greenhouse gases, we still have to find a way to fund transit and a sustainable way to fund highway improvements."
Mobility 21 partners with RCTC, WRCOG and IEEP to host Inland Empire Goods Movement Workshop
Mobility 21 Executive Director Marnie O'Brien Primmer will moderate a panel of goods movement experts from all aspects of the supply chain at the May 26 workshop in Riverside. Funded through a Southern California
Association of Governments grant, Western Riverside Council of Governments and Riverside County Transportation Commission have worked with the Inland Empire Economic Partnership and Mobility 21 to design a half-day workshop that will
educate leaders and policy makers about the impact of goods movement in the Inland Empire. Rep. Ken Calvert will be the keynote speaker, highlighting what is happening in Washington, D.C. to address goods movement issues. Notable regional
speakers include Mobility 21 Board Members RCTC Executive Director Anne Mayer and SCAG Executive Director Hasan Ikhrata.
