Quick News: Updates to MyTeamCaptain

MyTeamCaptain Technology Update

We have just completed a few upgrades to MyTeamCaptain that you may be interested in. Read on to see how we have made managing your teams and leagues even easier.

1. We now have SMS! Through a partnership with 2chatter.com, MyTeamCaptain now gives you the ability to send text messages to your players' cell phones. All players that have valid Mobile numbers that are on an Active Team will be reachable by simply entering your message on the Active Teams page (see screenshot below). League Managers can contact the captains of the teams in their leagues in a similar manner.

2. The season generator for League Managers (on the Schedule screen) has been fixed. Previously it didn't rotate time slots when generating round robin matchups.

3. Players now have an "Auto-Login" option which they can set in their My Account screen. If set to Auto-Login, links on emails players receive automatically log them into their MyTeamCaptain account.

4. If a new season is created and there are no locations defined, a warning will pop up and the captain or league manager will be able to create a new location there. Previously, you could create a season with no playing locations, which could cause confusion when setting up games or events.

5. On the players' screen, the Create New Player link is now more visible.

6. In the forum section, new forum posts that have been made since your last login will now show up as "new posts".

7. Successful testing was completed with Apple Safari 2.0. Many thanks to Ben Blank for his efforts in testing and usability analysis.

8. The Schedule button at the top now opens the "All Teams, All Seasons" calendar, displaying all of your events for the current month.

9. For Team Captain accounts, in the Players page under the "Summary Statistics of Active Players", you can see a total of season fees you have collected from all of your players.

10. In Captain accounts, on the Teams screen, you can now define your role more precisely - either as a Captain (the default), Coach, Manager, or Administrator. This is what will be used when automatically "signing" emails and SMS messages you send to your players.

On the Burner

1. We are working on integrating individual player statistics into the Schedule and Players screens. The rollout will likely start with a few major sports first and then gradually expand into others.

2. We are also making a new function that allows you to create a fan site for your team, giving you the ability to control what the public can see and learn about your team. Boost attendance, grow an email list, and generate interest in your team without having to hire a webmaster.

3. We are working on a Flash-based tutorial to help new and existing users get the most out of their MyTeamCaptain accounts.

Thank you!

As always, we appreciate any feedback you have and hope that you are enjoying MyTeamCaptain! Stay tuned for more upgrades coming soon!

Until next time,
