MyTeamCaptain Technology Update
Well another year has come and gone, but here at MyTeamCaptain we aren't sitting on our laurels. We've been working as hard as you have, hitting the gym, running drills, and practicing our hand-eye coordination skills. Hopefully these
upgrades will make your MyTeamCaptain experience that much better!
1. Two new event types. You can now create two new events - "Party" and "Rally". These are event types that are more informal, with "Rally" being a public-invited type of event. This will become more important as we complete the
Fansite (official website for your team). More on that later.
2. New Country field for players. Players can now save their Country in their profiles.
3. English or Metric. Speaking of different countries, due to the overwhelming response from our European users, we added a little option on the Admin page that lets you choose the type of units you would like to work with. Most
importantly, it will now correctly display your player information (height and weight).
4. New tutorial complete. We have completed a short motion-capture video tutorial for you. For those of you who are experienced users, it may not provide any new information, but for new users it should help walk you through the
basic use of the system. Huge thanks to my sister,

5. Fansite ALPHA. We have been focusing our energy on a super-user-friendly way for you to build a public-facing website for your team. We call it your Fansite, and the object is to help you build and maintain a fan base for your
teams. After all, who doesn't like fans coming to their games?
From the Teams page, click on the "Manage Fansite" to give it a try. We're still working on it, so some things may not work yet, but keep checking it out and over the next couple weeks you should be able to watch your fansite blossom into
a beautiful Internet flower that will intimidate and dominate your opponents.
On the Burner
1. We are working on integrating individual player statistics into the Schedule and Players screens. The rollout will likely start with a few major sports first and then gradually expand into others.
2. AdCenter. We are working on a way for advertisers to place their ads on MyTeamCaptain. We are also looking to do some profit sharing with captains, so that if a team's players and fans click on links and generate revenue, the captain
and the team can benefit. Thanks to Chris at
Custom Ink for his assistance in coming up with the model for this (and check them out if your team needs uniforms or shirts).
3. Account expiration. We are going to write a script that deletes league and captain accounts that are inactive for a year.
4. Substitute players. We will create a player type that fits between "Active" and "Inactive", so that a captain can call on a reserve of subs to fill in if the team will be short for the next game.
