Quick News: Updates to MyTeamCaptain

MyTeamCaptain Technology Update

Since our last update, the Colts won the Superbowl, the Sabres and Senators accumulated 100 penalty minutes in one brawl, and Man United has once again claimed the top spot in the Premier League.  But what's more important is YOUR team and how your game is getting to the next level - with a little help from MyTeamCaptain.

1.  New category of player.  There is now a new "Substitute/Reserve" category of player that you can set in your Players screen.  This is useful for keeping track of people that are on call in case you are short players.  The icons are a little bit different - the icon that previously represented inactive players (the guy sitting on the bench) is now used for the substitute players.  The new purple icon showing the player lying down represents inactive players.

2.  New emailing/SMS flexibility.  It's now a little easier to determine who you would like to send your emails to using the email and SMS links on the Active Teams page.  You can also add the links to the bottom of your message to include attendance links for your Active and Substitute players.  You can also send messages to fans that register for your fansite.

3.  Fansite upgrades.  The fansite manager is now completely built out.  The Active Teams page now has a link to the fansite manager to make it easier for you to get there.  When you are there, check out all the screens.  There are more color customization options, more preset color templates, and a new fansite visitor tracking page that will blow your socks off.  You can also define a subdomain of the myteamcaptain.com domain to make it easy for your players to remember your team's website (e.g., "bulldogs.myteamcaptain.com").

4. Squashed a couple bugs. Players' ages now are calculated correctly. Thanks to Pete Powers for pointing this one out.  Also, some links were not displaying correctly in the forums.

5.  Map link fixed.  Thanks to Colin Hakin for pointing out that all the links to bring up maps to the event locations default to the United States.  Before you non-Americans say "how typically American", check out the links now - they should show the event location in your country correctly.  God save the Queen!

On the Burner

1.  Improved league management linking.  We are going to make season and team management easier for league managers.

2. We are working on integrating individual player statistics into the Schedule and Players screens. The rollout will likely start with a few major sports first and then gradually expand into others.

3. AdCenter. We are working on a way for advertisers to place their ads on MyTeamCaptain. We are also looking to do some profit sharing with captains, so that if a team's players and fans click on links and generate revenue, the captain and the team can benefit.

4. Account expiration. We are going to write a script that deletes league and captain accounts that are inactive for a year.

5. Captains will be able to select if they would like attendance confirmation sent to them by SMS (text message to their cell phone).

Thank you!

As always, we appreciate any feedback you have and hope that you are enjoying MyTeamCaptain! Stay tuned for more upgrades coming soon!

Until next time,
