Cooler Tips #56
Tracking and Reporting |
Track Your Sources!
CoolerEmail continues to receive the highest marks in the industry for its advanced tracking capabilities. If you aren't already doing so, you may want to take full advantage of CoolerEmail's tracking features. In addition to tracking the
traffic to a particular URL, you can also track which links are generating the clicks.
A source tracking URL is simply this:
Without Tracking: www.cooleremail.com
With Tracking: www.cooleremail.com?source=article1linkexample
Adding the "?source=X" at the tail end of your links enables you to see exactly where someone is clicking on your email creative if you use the same URL in more than one location.
If you have a dynamic site (code being .asp, .aspx, .net, .php, etc) you will need to do it a little differently. It would look like this:
With Dynamic Tracking: www.cooleremail.com?page=1234&source=article1linkexample
If your site URLs already use a "?" in the URL string, you can create a source tracking URL by just adding a "&" and then the "source=X".
If you are using CoolerTracks for your website statistics, be sure to check the radio button in the list settings to "Track Dynamic URLs" in each of you lists --- you will have the best combined email/website tracking data available
anywhere!

Cool New Features!
Bounce Tracking Reports by domain in Each Report
As the industry leader in deliverability, we have added a new domain tracking report to confirm successful campaign delivery to various ISPs.
Log out in the Top Nav Bar
Now you are able to easily "logout" using the top of the Nav bar instead of returning to the home page. This is important for clients logging into and out of the system frequently, as well as for Value Added Resellers who manage several
client campaigns simultaneously.
Easy Add users to List Function
In your Contacts screen you are now able to add additional contacts to each list based on a new filtering tool. This allows for the easy import of targeted subscribers to each existing list. It will also automatically de-duplicate
subscribers to ensure that you cannot add them to a list that they may have already been a part of.

A Cooler (and better) system -
More than half of those new to email marketing (e.g., those trying send email via Outlook or other email programs with inferior tracking features) don`t know if their message is being delivered. Although e-mail marketers say their
biggest challenge is getting their messages delivered into consumers' in-boxes, 54% say they don't use e-mail delivery auditing tools to proactively improve results, JupiterResearch says in a recent report.
If any of your friends/colleagues face a similar situation, please consider referring them to CoolerEmail so they can capitalize on our tracking tools. Time and time again, clients enjoy immediate and continued success (and return on
investment!) when they join the CoolerTeam.
We have added a new bounce monitoring tool in the Tracking button for each campaign so that you can better monitor if the content of your email is having an impact on the delivery. 72 hours after you send a campaign, take a look at the
tracking report and look for domains that may have had issues. Then check the content of your email using the Preview button to see if there is any text flagged in RED as something to change.
If you find that you are having issues with the same email addresses or domains again and again, let us know.
Also we suggest keeping your lists clean by setting the allowed bounce rates for your lists at a threshold of 3 bounces in the My Account tab. This will help to reduce the list size for emails that are invalid. A clean list is a better
performing list. It is not the size of the list that matters to most marketers today, but the quality of the list itself.

Auto-subscribe Forms
If you just use the Auto-subscribe forms for your newsletter sign ups, you are missing out on what you can use it for. We suggest using the system to generate all of the forms for contact, downloads, requests, and simple registrations so
that you are capturing all of the data in one simple CRM system.
These flexible forms allow you to control the triggers and autoresponders you can send out to reduce the work on yourself. Think of how you can use them to set up a 1-4 stage process of email communcation with a new prospect or customer.
A good example is when someone buys from your ecommerce system to use a double post to pass the information of the current transaction into the user profile in the CoolerEmail system. This way you can better target those people using the
dynamic data system with products, news or information that is relevant to how they have engaged you.
To set up your forms, go to the HELP tab and in the sub tabs you will find a tab labeled "Web Signup Form". Use the easy wizard button to create a dynamic form tailored to you needs.

Spring Cleaning is Here
As Spring is upon us, it is time for many of us to clean up our databases. One quick trick in the CoolerEmail system is to take a few minutes to clean up your lists.
You can use the MasterCRM -->
Utilities -->
Resync to make sure that all of your lists are insync with one another. Depending on your list size, this can take a few seconds to a few minutes .
You can use the Contacts (in each list) -->
Clean List to reset or change bounces to No Contact or any other format you desire.
We would suggest not setting them to remove as but rather unsubscribe as you do not want to run into a situation where someone has removed themself from your list and you email them again.
