eROI Releases 4th Quarter Email Delivery Report |
 |
Open rates on marketing e-mail and newsletters dipped in Q4 of 2005, according to the "Q4 2005 E-mail Statistics" report released by eROI.
From the Q3 to Q4 2005, open rates dropped 29 percent. Click rates fell 21 percent in the same period. The report speculates image blocking in Gmail, Outlook 2003 and other e-mail clients chipped away at open rates. The sheer volume of
e-mail received over the holidays is another factor considered by the e-marketing agency.
The study finds Friday was the best day to send e-mail in the 4th quarter of 2005. The past two quarters show a tendency for higher open and click rates on Friday. Tuesday gets the second-highest open rate, with Thursday earning the
second-highest clickthrough rates.

More and more people world-wide are spending greater and greater amounts of time in front of the computer. Additionally, computer users are tending to increasingly develop and maintain business and social relationships via email... in
some cases email has become the primary all-around communication method!
Bottom line, with increase in the popularity of email (and of course cell phones and SMS to some extent), we are evolving into a culture which lives and communicates in a virtual environment. Many of your clients and prospects spend
more time reading and responding to email than they do with any other communication activity. Keep this in mind as you are preparing to communicate with your list of clients via email and remember that
