TIP
Moving segmented contacts to another list.
Have you ever had the need to move a list or a groups of contacts from one list to another. We know that many of your export the whole list to Excel, sort and then upload that list into the list you want. Well stop the manual chaos.
Here is how we suggest doing it.
1. Copy the List Name from the Control Panel.
2. Hit the Contacts button for the list you want to add them to.
3. Hit the Import button the left hand nav.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and use the simple import drop downs.
5. Paste the List name with the variables you have selected into the List Name box.
6. Import.
This will bring the contacts you want into the list you have set up.
Rinse, Lather, Repeat as many times as you want to build the segmented and targeted list.

Effective communication continually evolves. So should your email distribution strategy. For the best results with your upcoming email campaign, you should consider taking a look at your past campaigns to determine when people are
actually reading your emails. You might find that there are times which are better suited to higher campaign performance with your audience. To get started, simply look at your last 2 or 3 editions sent and see when people were not just
reading but actually taking action (clicking, answering surveys, buying, etc.). If you can find these historical sweet spots, you will stand a better chance with future campaigns!
Learn More about Best Practices from the new
Email Experience Council. This is a group of over 2000 (and growing) various ESPs, ISPs, Corporations and Marketing Agencies in the US and World (many of whom CoolerEmail has helped in their marketing efforts) who meet online to
discuss challenges and solutions to various email marketing issues. There are many resources there, events, and a soon to launch blog that could help to impart some added wisdom to your campaigns. |

Email Addictions Continue To Grow |
|
We are always happy to see the folks at eROI produce new studies that are helpful to our clients. This past month they released a study showing the importance of email in our daily lives. The results are good news for all CoolerEmail
clients!
More than 260 respondents confirmed that the society-wide "email addiction" is growing and getting stronger. Apparently, most of us can't even go on vacation without checking email at least once. According to the eROI Email Addiction
Survey, 61 percent continue to check email even while trying to get some rest and relaxation on that beautiful sandy beach. Additionally, 56 percent reported a high level of anxiety if they can't access email. Somebody pass the morphine -
stat!
Some other interesting findings indicate that themajority of people feel a direct attachment to email and see it as the main communication vehicle in their business lives. On the other hand, it's starting to creep into our personal lives.
People are starting to use email more and more to communicate with family and friends – will we ever talk again?

New Features Making Us Cooler |
|
New Help System
The Knowledge Base has been updated to be 2006 buzz word compliant (that means "Web 2.0"). It now makes use of the AJAX coding that has made its appearance in other recent script updates, such as the broadcast history page. We encourage
everyone to check it out.
Single Opt In Forms
We have said repeatedly that single opt-in forms are problematic, in that any one can sign any email address up to a customer's list. For this reason alone, we encourage all of you to encourage your users to make use of the double opt in
form (multidouble.ice) available within your account.
New Date Placeholders
There have been six new placeholders added to our "system" placeholders. They are date bits (year, month, day) in various form (numeric, long name, short name) and are determined based on the date the edition is actually sent from our
servers--NOT the date the message is broadcasted. The list follows:
Year (eg 2006), Month (eg 09), MonthName (eg September), MonthNameShort (eg Sep), Day (eg 24), DayName (eg Sunday), DayNameShort (eg Sun)
Control Panel Optimizations
There has been an order of magnitude increase in the page loading speed of the control panel for those customers with a significant number of archived editions. Even on largest enterprise client accounts (e.g., with millions of names and
thousands of editions) the control panel now loads almost instantly.
Send Button
The "Send Now" button on the sending page has been updated to prevent double clicks. It is now disabled upon the first click. This will help prevent double and/or partial sends from "user error".
Footer Update
This is a minor language update to the footer. To accomodate requests by some of our top-tier ISPs, word "profile" has changed to "preferences" in the English language footers.
Login Manager
Some of you may have already noticed a "login manager" link in the snapshot. This feature is available to both portal and user accounts and provides information on recent login activity. For users, it shows a list of recent login attempts
including the referring web page, password used, source IP address and whether the attempt was successful or not. Additionally, users have the ability to clear "failed login attempts" for particular IPs from this screen. This is a security
enhancement, as it provides the user with the ability to leave a particular IP address locked out of the system.
ON THE BURNER
Spell and Spam Check
Spam and Spell check will be vastly improved on our preview page in the coming months. When running a spell check the misspelled words will be highlighted. Clicking on them will result in a popup window with replacement suggestions from a
user definable dictionary and other standard spellcheck options (replace once, replace all, ignore, etc.).
New Contact Management Interface
Some of the recent interface improvements to things like the broadcast history script will be applied to the contact management interface in the Master CRM. This will offer the side benefit of significant speed boosts for customers with
large contact lists. |
