Solving a Slow Internet Explorer 7
Are you using Internet Explorer 7 and finding pages load as fast as molasses in winter?

It turns out that Microsoft included a phishing filter for Internet Explorer 7 that causes longer-than-normal page loading times. Go to the Microsoft support site and download a cumulative patch to correct this issue. Click on "Resolution" to begin the download. You'll soon be cruising the World Wide Web at a comfortable speed again.
Help is Near!
Anytime you have a genuine problem using CoolerEmail, help is nearby with the use of a "support ticket."

How do you create a ticket?

Begin by searching the Knowledge Base with the search bar located just above the form. Simply fill in a search term, and hit the "Search" button. Check the results to see if your question can be answered there. If it can, that's great. If not, don't hesitate to submit a support ticket using the following instructions.

1. From your Control Panel, select "Help."

2. Under "Contact Support," select "Create Ticket."

3. A form will pop up that says "Create a Support Ticket."

4. Fill out the fields in the form; they are all required. Be truthful on the drop-down menu for "Priority." The default setting is "Normal." When you describe the problem in the box provided, please be as specific as possible.

5. Check the box indicating that the information about this problem was not in the Knowledge Base. If you haven't checked Knowledge Base yet, STOP. Go back and do so before continuing. If you have, proceed to the next step.

6. Click on the "Create Support Ticket" button. You'll see an acknowledgment window that assures your request will be responded to as quickly as possible.

Remember, access the complete searchable knowledge base on the Help page.

Cooler New Click-Through Configuration!
CoolerEmail now has a cooler feature under the "My Account" screen called "Redirect Host".

This feature allows users to specify their domains for click-through processing. Previously, a click would first go to CoolerEmail's website, www.icebase.com, record tracking and then redirect to the true destination (i.e. www.yourwebsite.com).

Now, a user can specify a host name (i.e. emails.yourwebsite.com), and the new links would make use of that domain, ensuring that the redirection host has the same domain as the final destination. While the click still takes subscribers to CoolerEmail's servers to record tracking prior to sending them along, CoolerEmail's server now appears to be the user's server because of the domain name.

So, what are the benefits for CoolerEmail customers? It should cut down on "phishing" alerts that occasionally crop up, further ensuring deliverability. It's also beneficial for "branding," as it projects a more professional image to email recipients.

There are, however, two caveats: 1) This feature is available at not extra cost as long as the account is at the CRM level (more than $49 per month) or above; and 2) The user must be able to configure DNS, either themselves or through their tech staff. In order to do that, find the IP to point the domain to in the Knowledge Base. In the My Account screen, scroll down to the section for "Redirect Host," and click the "Tips" icon to read more. The system checks to make sure the DNS is set up correctly before using the host. If the DNS is incorrect, it will make use of our current domain or the portal's configured login domain, if this is a portal account.

The Redirect Host is one more improvement to make CoolerEmail smarter and better. And that's just plain cool.
Get Hip with the Cooler Tracking Feature, CoolerTracks™
It's been said before, and we'll say it again: In email marketing, it's tracking, tracking, tracking.

In last month's Cooler Tips, we covered the basics of CoolerEmail's tracking capabilities. Now let's go a step further, covering the next level -- What is CoolerTracks™ -- for those who want more sophisticated data.

What is CoolerTracks™ you ask? It is a premium service available exclusively to CoolerEmail's subscribers for a small additional fee that extends the tracking data associated with an email recipient. Through our proprietary technology, you can find out who visits a Web page, who clicks on a particular link and who abandons their shopping cart. In the latter case, you can't yell, "Wait, come back!" but you can look at the data and determine what possibly made the user bail out of the shopping cart. Conversely, you can look at who stuck with the shopping cart and made the decision to buy. Compare what worked and what didn't to determine how to deliver the most effective message.

CoolerTracks™ provides data in the form of easy-to-read, colorful graphs that show just how an email recipient behaves after clicking from the email to a Web page. This increases your ability to mine data from personalized email campaigns, as you can determine which banners, logos and links elicited a response. Sophisticated? Yes. Effective? You bet. Easy to use and cost effective? Of course.

To learn more about this nifty premium tracking service and pricing information, look up What is CoolerTracks™ in the Features section. For more tips on how to fine-tune your email marketing campaigns, see this past issue of Cooler Tips.

Editor's note: This is the second in a series of articles in Cooler Tips on tracking. Next month, Cooler Tips will explore the subject further by providing specific tips for using CoolerEmail's tracking features to improve your email marketing efforts.

Thank you ...
