Email Marketing |
Missed Opportunities for Email Marketers
Email marketers are missing out on simple things that increase email deliverability, besides increasing opens, clicks and conversions, according to a study on email practices by
eROI. The survey's findings were covered in a recent story published on
MarketingCharts.com. Called "The Elements of Email," the survey looked at various elements in email marketing, from email headers to subject-line content. What it found, for example, is that half of marketers use their company name
in email headers, and only 25 percent regularly test subject lines.

The Support Ticket |
Help is Nearby
Remember, you can answer most of your questions using CoolerEmail's comprehensive searchable knowledge base on the Help page.
However, anytime you can't find your answer there, help is nearby with the use of a "support ticket." How do you create a ticket?
1. From your Control Panel, select "Help."
2. Under "Contact Support," select "Create Ticket."
3. A form will pop up that says "Create a Support Ticket." Begin by searching the Knowledge Base with the search bar located just above the form. Simply fill in a search term, and hit the "Search"
button. Check the results to see if your question can be answered there. If it can, that's great. If not, start over by selecting "Create Ticket" and proceed to the next step.
4. Fill out the fields in the form; they are all required. Be truthful on the drop-down menu for "Priority." The default setting is "Normal." When you describe the problem in the box provided, please be
as specific as possible.
5. Check the box indicating that the information about this problem was not in the Knowledge Base. If you haven't checked Knowledge Base yet, STOP. Go back to Step No. 2. If you have, proceed to the next
step.
6. Click on the "Create Support Ticket" button. You'll see an acknowledgment window that assures your request will be responded to as quickly as possible. |

THE COOLER CLIENT PROFILE: JEFF LYNCH |
Jeff Lynch, founder of Lynch Interactive

Lynch Interactive is a 10-year-old, full-service Web site development and marketing company with five employees. The company combines all the essential skill sets of programming, design, and marketing to provide customers with an
end-to-end solution that gets results. The company's tag line is "Building Profitable Online Businesses."
Linch Interactive's clients include: The Running Center; Oceanside Photo and Telescope; Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce; Brea Chamber of Commerce; and the Tri-City Council
Navy League; National Stock Horse Association; Southern Indian Health Council; and San Diego County Dental Society.
Cooler Tips: Describe how you utilize CoolerEmail to enable your clients to communicate with their customers and members?
Jeff: There are a variety of ways. We have chamber of commerce clients that send out weekly event reminders. Our retail sales customers use the CoolerEmail system to send out sale announcements, notices
of new products, newsletters, coupons, drawings for gift certificates, and customer tips. They range in frequency from irregular to consistent monthly newsletters. We've even had a few local political candidates use the system to send out
campaign information. Emails announcing who won the gift certificate work because people want to see who won.
Cooler Tips: What significant things have you learned from analyzing the real-time statistics CoolerEmail provides for each edition you send?
Jeff: We've learned what things people really want to know about, based on most popular clicks. We've also learned who is really interested in our content, based on reads. For one thing, our clients have
learned how important it has to have a compelling subject line. Without that, open rates drop off. Using these statistics, we can fine-tune the emails to achieve a higher rate of response.
Cooler Tips: Do you subscribe to CoolerTracks? If so, how has it helped you improve your email marketing campaigns?
Jeff: I subscribe, and I've found new features of CoolerEmail because of it. CoolerTracks also helps me keep focused on promoting email marketing to my clients. I don't have enough clients doing direct
email and I'd like to get more. When one of my clients sends out its email newsletter, sales typically go up the following week, and the cost is so minimal. The problem for small companies is that they have to produce content to make it
work, and they often don't have the staff or money to do that. But if you have a Web site or business that's not currently employing direct email as a marketing tool, you are missing one of the top three tools available to you.
Cooler Tips: What methods do you use to help your clients build their contact list? Which ones have been most effective?
Jeff: We use a variety of methods. Our clients' new customers are given the option of subscribing when they buy things in the clients' store. We also put on contests. In addition, retailers with
brick-and-mortar stores are encouraged to post a sign-up sheet near the cash register, with those who sign up eligible to win $25. That's been effective. When someone comes in your store, they have a personal connection. You can extend
that experience through direct email marketing, and convert that one-time client into a regular client. It's a receptive audience.
Cooler Tips: How has CoolerEmail helped to improve your business or organization?
Jeff: First, it's critical to have a third-party email provider for email marketing. It's not the kind of thing you should attempt on your own domain. There are too many things that could go wrong, and
the infrastructure required for tracking subscriptions – and, even more important, unsubscribes – is critical for running a clean program. CoolerEmail provides that service in a first-class way. Second, CoolerEmail allows us, as a
full-service marketing and web site development company, to offer email marketing as a part of our service. You can't really be full service if you are not including one of the top marketing strategies in your mix.
