Yes, you can relax, as CoolerEmail has postponed launching the new import requirement process. We know that as we approach the holiday season, staffs may be running lean as people take vacation days,
and, no doubt, these are stressful times for everybody. Thus, CoolerEmail is postponing until January 2009 the requirement of importing confirmed opt-in records with all new contacts. Stay tuned. |

Forwarded Emails |
Bargain Hunters Appreciate Forwarded Emails
Nearly 30 percent of shoppers examine links forwarded from friends, peer comments and social sites for the best bargains, as reported on
MarketingCharts.com. With that in mind, be sure to activate CoolerEmail's "Send to a Friend" feature. Encourage recipients to forward your emails, and check your success rate as tracked in "Real-time Statistics." Accessible on the
List Settings page for any mailing list, the Send to a Friend feature allows you to put a link or a small form at the bottom of email. Learn more about this handy option in the Knowledge Base, accessible from the Help tab. |

EMAIL MARKETING DURING DIFFICULT TIMES |
Email Marketing Strategies for a Holiday in Recession
Consumers will be spending less this holiday season, by a considerable amount – 5 percent – according to a national consumer survey by
Brand Keys, Inc. The number of consumers expressing that they would spend less this holiday season increased, as did the number of consumers saying they would spend the same. Plus, they are shopping earlier, starting well before
"Black Friday" – the traditional after-Thanksgiving shopping day, falling on November 28 this year.
But the survey had good news for email marketers: More consumers say they will be shopping online this holiday season, according to a story published on
MarketingVox.com.
Retailers are ever more competitive and are strategizing carefully for the holiday season. CoolerEmail clients take note: You, too, must strategize to make the most of this season. Take advantage of the
awesome tool you have to communicate with your customers: CoolerEmail's easy-to-use system for building, sending and tracking email. Pay attention to how subject lines affect open rates. Look at your real-time stats and discern their
meaning. Hone your marketing message. Choose the dates and times of your broadcast wisely. Start now, if you haven't already!
The
Cooler Tips newsletter archive is full of ideas and tips to help you this season. Don't let opportunities slip by. The current economic climate calls for smart strategies during a time that makes or breaks many businesses dependent
on consumer spending.
Consumers want a better online shopping experience, so give it to them. Make your promotional messages as effective as possible, and back them up with a high level of customer service.
What products should your messages target? Look at what consumers are buying this season. According to the Brand Keys survey, gift cards are the most popular holiday purchase this year (80 percent); followed by clothing and accessories (50
percent); electronics/computers/phones (49 percent); CDs/DVDs/video games (48 percent); books (25 percent); Home Décor (15 percent); and, finally, travel (1 percent). With those stats in mind, take note and plan your email marketing
campaigns accordingly.
