Reskin for VARs
How a VAR Can Reskin an API

Reskin? API? Confused? Allow CoolerEmail's technology guru Justin Coffey to explain. "API (application programming interface) refers to a system that allows programmers to customize their applications to work with many functions within the CoolerEmail system. To 'reskin' is to put an interface design over the API," says Coffey. And that's exactly what one enterprising CoolerEmail VAR, ChampionSound.com, did in order to develop a promotion tool for musicians, promoters and venues. Owner Chuck Longanecker says: "The system is completely independent of CoolerEmail with the exception of using the 'send mail' server. All the accounts, lists and emails reside on our system. Once a user activates their account, we use the Cooler API to create a new account for email distribution." That system is working well for him and his customers. "The tool includes web and mobile list management, email marketing and statistics. We have recently released a Guest List Widget that allows users to create and manage guest lists for their events online and via their mobile phone," Longanecker adds. While the XML API is sort of in a "beta" testing phase, Coffey is optimistic about the future of such an application. "Building software on top of the XML API is about people coming up with creative ways for a VAR to use our system," says Coffey.

Auto-Responder Fine-Tuning
Fine-Tuning Auto-Responder Programs

How did one e-retailer fine-tune an award-winning, post-purchase email marketing campaign to boost revenue per subscriber and increase the number of repeat customers? That's the subject of a case study published recently on MarketingSherpa.com on SmartBargains.com. The company follows up with auto-responders by emailing a few relevant product suggestions to customers after a purchase in order to encourage repeat sales. It's a strategy that works – and the more relevant the email, the more effective it is. Click here to read the full story. Of course, CoolerEmail's easy-to-use autoresponder is perfectly suited to this type of targeted marketing. Search "auto-responders" under the Help tab.

EMAIL MARKETING
Email Marketing with an Impact

Every email marketer ponders the question: How do I create messages that elicit action? The key is analyzing web data to create more relevant campaigns. Gathering specific data using CoolerEmail's Real-time Statistics and proprietary Cooler Preview Stats to learn more about your prospects and customers is the first step to building an email marketing relationship. Use these stats, including unlimited click-through tracking and the CoolerSnapshot feature to gauge the effectiveness of your email marketing campaigns and determine how to optimize strategies for improvement.

The first priority is gaining insight into a customer's behavior. First, identify segments of your audience by looking at traffic from your email campaigns for every visit, not just the initial one. Collect this data to see the value of each customer and then create campaigns specific to them. Analyze your conversion rate by campaign and identify the number of conversions versus the number of abandonments. Take a deeper look at how your subscribers move around your website using CoolerTracks, a premium service provided by CoolerEmail that provides users with a full-featured visitor log. Measure all behavior associated with these different segments to determine their reaction to emails and how they navigate on your site. Do they make a purchase or do a download? Evaluate just how your marketing initiatives impact traffic and behavior on your site.

Now that you have gained insight into a customer's behavior, make data actionable. Create campaigns for different segments based on their visitor history. CoolerEmail's Dynamic Data is an extremely powerful tool to provide your recipients with personalized, relevant content. Use this premium service to help create dynamic content based on the products your visitors purchase or the web pages they view. Look closely at those who abandoned to determine why you're missing the mark on conversion. Is a particular field stumbling them? If so, consider changing or deleting it so you can grab more "low-hanging fruit." What about the paths they take when visiting your site? Is there a page that is more popular? If so, then include a link to that page in your email messages.

Real-time messaging is extremely valuable to you and your customer because your customer gets relevant, specific messages based on their behavior and you get a greater ROI. Consider the five stages of a customer lifecycle: acquisition, conversion, growth, retention and reactivation. Enhancing the customer's experience during each stage helps build a lasting relationship. By analyzing customer behavior and weaving it into your email marketing strategy, you are better able to give customers the "full experience" with your business or organization. In turn, you create an email marketing machine that cranks out results, and that's just plain cool.
