Event Description:
For entrepreneurs with companies on the fundraising path, OEN's Seed Oregon is a unique opportunity to not only compete for funding opportunities, but to learn the rules of the road of effective fundraising. This entertaining and educational competition is the program for OEN PubTalks during October and November of 2010, and then again, in January and February of 2011.

The competition is for Oregon and Southwest Washington seed-stage companies who are seeking capital within the range of $100,000 to $2,000,000. One winner from each preliminary round will move on to a championship round, where a finalist will earn a coveted presenting opportunity at OEN's Angel Oregon 2011, the premier angel investing event in the Northwest, on March 16, 2011.

• Integrated Power Corporation - Integrated Power provides real-time energy management and control technologies.
• Indow Windows - Indow Windows manufactures interior thermal window inserts.
• Streamit, Inc. - Streamit, Inc. is an e-commerce software that securely sell streaming video.

Online registration for this event closes Wednesday, November 10th at noon. Please register at the door after that time.

Cultivating Oregon's Innovation Culture

This year's OEN's Venture Northwest conference offered something extra, beyond the opportunity for entrepreneurs and investors to size each other up. Attendees had the chance to hear three great panel discussions about how Oregon can ramp up company creation and growth.

Each panel was made up of experts in a different area of the economic ecosystem: venture capital, government and the universities.

Through each of these different lenses, one common theme came into focus: Oregonians need to shift some traditional attitudes and behaviors to create a culture of active, aggressive and ongoing business creation.

Corvallis-based Columbia Power Technologies won the people's choice award over nine other companies selected to present at OEN's Venture Northwest. Columbia Power Technologies is a renewable energy company developing a superior, utility scale wave energy device that will unlock the energy in the world's oceans.

"OEN's Venture Northwest featured a slate of fantastic companies from across the region that demonstrates a commitment to superior innovation and entrepreneurship," said Diane Fraiman, a partner at Voyager Capital and chair of OEN's Venture Northwest.
