those of us who also love riding our bikes, Reach the Beach is a fabulous way to get out and experience Oregon's countryside. Every pedal stroke helps promote clean Oregon air and healthy Oregon lungs. You'll meander along quiet,
gorgeous rural roads on your way to the spectacular beach party in Pacific City. Register before midnight on April 12th and you'll pay only $25 for the entry fee, plus an easy-to-reach fundraising goal of $50. Reach the Beach is the
major fundraiser for the American Lung Association in Oregon.
The packet pickup is Sunday April 26th from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at REI Tualatin, 7410 SW Bridgeport Rd. This special night is an opportunity to pick up your bib, review the routes, meet other riders, enjoy appetizers, sample treats
and learn more about the ride. You can also sign up for the ride and turn in fundraising contributions at this pre-ride party. See who else is riding, meet the staff and get all your ducks in a row so that on the morning of the ride,
bright and early as it is, you're ready to hit the open road and pedal your way to the beach.

FILMED BY BIKE | April 17-23 - Portland |
Seven days of bike movies are coming to the Clinton Street Theater as part of the Seventh Annual Filmed by Bike, the festival
of bike-themed movies from around the world that happens only here in Portland. This year there are four separate programs, over 80 movies and 13 showtimes to choose from.
Get ready to party, biker style. If boisterous bikers yelling at the silver screen is your thing, you'll love the raucous Opening Night Throwdown on Friday, April 17th. Hang out in the street... the New Belgium Street Party is right
in front of the theater with a beer garden, entertainers and more. The street party is free and will be full of wild antics from 6pm-1am. There is also a speed raffle with over $2,000 prizes including apparel from Rapha, wrist bands to
MusicFestNW. And for the hundreds of you who didn't get in last year, or the year before, the festival, which has sold out every year, has finally added a third screening on opening night. Showtimes are 7, 9, and 11pm.
In addition to the general mix of international bike movies that range from humorous to political and have been the staple of Filmed by Bike since it's first year, the festival has two new programs this year. Going for the Gold is a
night filled with advocacy and success stories and the festival will conclude with a night of greatest hits from the last six years of Filmed by Bike.
Head out to the Opening Night Throwdown in style and avoid those long (but fun) lines. You can purchase a VIP Access pack that gets you VIP admission, New Deal vodka (with the cute bike label), chocolate truffles, dinner for two, a
free DVD much more. There are plenty of screenings to attend, and for a sneak peek to make your scheduling easier, you can watch some of this year's movies on the Filmed by Bike website.
This is an ORbike member event. If you're an ORbike member, you'll get half price admission to the movies on 4/20 and 4/21. Contact us to ensure your membership is up to date then just show up at the theater.

THE EUGENE ROUBAIX | April 18 - Eugene |
Paris-Roubaix is a one-day professional bicycle road race in northern France from Compi¸gne to Roubaix, near the Belgian
frontier. Famous for rough terrain and cobblestones, the event is now a classic. More locally, the Eugene Roubaix is a now-famous 13 mile course featuring varied terrain and a straight stretch of gravel road to test your mettle. The
course has approximately 117 meters of rolling hills, one 'berg' (Oak Hill Road), and a gravel section per lap. This course is tough but fun and the perfect warm-up for the upcoming road race season.
This is an official OBRA event, just one of the very many races to come for the season. You don't need to be an OBRA member to participate, but you if you're not a member you will need to purchase a one-day license to ride ($5). The
entire course is suitable for a standard road bike setup, but choose your tires wisely and leave the super lightweight tires and climbing wheels for another day. Support will be neutral, but wheels will not be provided. The majority of
racers bring a spare set of wheels for the neutral wheel pit.
The Roubaix is continuing their hairy tradition: a prize goes to the bearer of the best euro-style mullet. That's right, get ready to chop your hair for business in the front, party in the back and vie for this honored
award.
