TOUR DE LAB | September 13 - Portland
Who let the dogs out? Get all dogged up and head out on a bicycle tour of all three Lucky Lab brew pubs on Tour de Lab, a benefit for Dove Lewis Animal Hospital. Choose from two routes: an 18 mile Puppy course or the 30 mile Big Dog which features Mastiff-size climbing over Council Crest. At each of the rest stops along the way, you'll earn your dog gear (ears, nose) and enjoy human treats (pizza, bread sticks and more) as you wind your way to the finish line festival: the Dog Park at Lucky Lab Northwest.

The Dog Park features a make-your-own hot dog extravaganza, and free pint glasses for all participants flaunting their dog gear. Dogs are welcome on this quirky, fun ride, and costumes are encouraged!

Tour de Lab was a howling success in the first year (last year), and is anticipated to have huge crowds and be a doggone good time once again this year. What a great way to wind down the summer riding season: taking a spin around town, drinking beer (at the finish line) and hanging out with friends as you make fun of each other, take pictures and show off your doggie gear.Register in advance and save.

    BiKETOBEERFEST | September 19 - Portland
Hopworks Brewery is celebrating the closing of an amazing summer cycling season with BiKETOBEERFEST, a free, all-day, outdoor event. This bike-in Oktoberfest gives a high five to the local bike fans who have come out in droves to fill the streets of Portland with two wheels (and the occasional three, one or four wheel contraptions that resemble bikes).

The day kicks off with kids activities, and the energy and mayhem amps up throughout the day with March Fourth Marching Band, the unveiling of new fresh-hop organic beers, five live bands on a keg-supported stage, bike competitions, flatlanders and BMX trick riders, Goldsprints roller races, a bike craft fair, bike builders and way more.

Portland is home to crafter brewers, and bike crafters. Hopworks is bringing the two together for this all day celebration you most certainly don't want to miss.
COG WILD | All Season Long - Central Oregon
Cog Wild is a local guide company for cycling in Central Oregon. They offer a variety of ways to experience the trails, from individual shuttles to one- or multi-day tours. Cog Wild can also tell you about high country trails that are just now opening outside Bend - trails that many locals don't even know about.

If you're interested in an adventure longer than just a shuttle, you can join Cog Wild for their Bike & Brew Weekend to experience great riding right outside of Bend. The weekend tour includes three days of riding while visiting a local brewery every night for special tastings. Deschutes Brewery seems to be the winner for best brewery tour - and ending with drinking in the employee lounge is always a hit.

Are you interested in riding one of IMBA's epic trails? Cog Wild can show you the ropes on the North Umpqua Trail located south of Bend on a three-day tour. This trail is full of roots, rocks and exposure but also showcases the beauty of the area. Best of all, Cog Wild takes care of everything you would need for the weekend including food, transportation, camping and - most importantly - Deschutes Brewery Beer.
BIKE COMMUTE CHALLENGE | September - All of Oregon
The Bike Commute Challenge is on! For those of you who are the lone bike commuters at work, this is a great opportunity to rally your coworkers to join you in riding to the office. The Bike Commute Challenge, a program of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance, is a friendly competition - workplace against workplace - to see which business can get the most people biking to work in September. Any business, non-profit organization or public agency in Oregon and SW Washington is eligible to participate, and individual cyclists may participate on their own. Businesses can be of any size, and since this is a friendly, free competition any employee can play.

You may register your office team, or speak with your transportation coordinator if you have one. There are plenty of perks for employees and employers for getting involved. Anyone who bikes seven times in the month of September is eligible for special Challenge bike shop discounts, and the Bike Commute Challenge is a fun excuse to organize activities with your coworkers, at work or away from the office.

Encouraging bike commuting can help a company comply with the Department of Environmental Quality ECO Rule and save money through the Business Energy Tax Credit. The BTA website has a wealth of additional information on how businesses can benefit from encouraging their employees to bike to work. And don't worry, bike shops are in their own category (as are other businesses) so if you're worried about being blown out of the water by workplaces full of obvious bike commuters, you still have a good shot at winning. Rise to the challenge: start your cubicle chant, allocate extra space for bike parking, pull out the bike maps and get ready for the Bike Commute Challenge!
