The Night Ride | July 7 - Portland |
What's your bedtime? Well, come Saturday night, forget it. The Night Ride is a great opportunity to see the city at night -
by bike! You'll get a broad vista of the city lights twinkling on the river as you ride along the bluffs of Willamette Blvd. But it's not really just a ride, The Night Ride is packed with fun ride features. You'll encounter fire
dancers, live music and surprises at every turn.
Start practicing your electric slide, study John Travolta's moves and get ready for the groovy Disco Party Rest Stop. The disco balls will be spinning and the great music flowing as you step out onto a dance floor set in the middle of a
parking lot in North Portland. There is also a movie rest stop showing a special screening of short movies from the Filmed by Bike film festival. On the bill are some of the festival's top cuts including a fast-paced chase movie set on
the streets of London, a daredevil film of bike stunts, a time travel love story and an animated feature about NYC bike messengers. And yes, of course, there will be fresh popped-on-site bags of popcorn, so munch away.
All riders will get free Tirefly wheel lights, glow necklaces, snacks and candy on course (nighttime indulgences), water and support along the route and an all-you-can-eat doughnut finish line feast.
And it gets better. This ride is a benefit for the Bicycle Transportation Alliance, the folks who work hard to make cycling safe and accessible across Oregon. Sign up online before Friday or just show up at the event.
