HOTTEST DAY OF THE YEAR RIDE | August 6 - Portland |
 Hundreds of cyclists will brave the heat on a soaking, cycling, sundae, Sunday ride in support of the Community Cycling
Center. The mostly flat, 15-mile loop route starts and ends at the Lucky Lab Brew Hall, NW 19th and Quimby and features a finish line sundae making party, BBQ and the West's largest water fight (squirt guns provided).
The meandering 15-mile course is flat and perfect for new or experienced riders. A water and snack-stocked rest stop will provide shade and respite along the way. There is also a 40-mile option for hardcore riders who want more of a
challenge.

Cycling fever – On TV or alive in Portland?
Come see what it feels like to stand inches away from a peloton of professional bike racers speeding past you at thirty miles per hour. This year's downtown bicycle race - the Health Net Portland Twilight Criterium - presents a 60 minute,
in-your-face (and backyard) sprint for your viewing pleasure. Eighty riders per race will be jostling for position as they wind around the T-shaped course, completing a lap every 90 seconds for one hour.
Join 10,000 spectators for an evening of action. This year's event features live music, food, beer and wine. Secure bike parking is free and Health Net is providing free helmets to children at the Team Health Net motorcoach from
5:30-7:30 pm. Helmet fitting is provided by the experts of Health Net and GI Joe's. The criterium is free to the public. Festivities begin at 4:30pm and racing is on from 5:30-9pm.

PROVIDENCE BRIDGE PEDAL | August 13, Portland |
 "Perfectly Portland!" is what The Oregonian calls Providence Bridge Pedal. This annual tradition is a community celebration
of Portland, the Willamette River bridges and bicycling. It is your once a year opportunity to bike across all of Portland's bridges, from the Sellwood to the St. Johns, including the top decks of the Marquam and Fremont bridges. The
Providence Bridge Pedal Health and Wellness Expo on August 11 and 12 is hosted at the DoubleTree Hotel, Lloyd Center. You can register, pick up your event materials, and check out special activities and exhibits of LifeBalance Providers
and Providence programs and services.
Bridge Pedal is the second largest recreational cycling event in the country. With three different routes of 14, 24 and 36 miles, there is an option for everyone. Providence Bridge Stride is the opportunity for walkers to join in the
celebration with a 5-mile walk over the top deck of the Fremont Bridge. In cooperation with the Portland Office of Transportation's Women on Bikes program, the 8:15 a.m. start time is reserved exclusively for women. Riders must be age 13
or older and may participate in either the 8- or 6-bridge ride. Children riding in trailers or on bike seats are welcome.

SUMMER BIKE CAMP | All Summer - Portland |
 There is still time to get your children out on bikes this summer, and the Community Cycling Center (CCC) is ready to help
make that a great experience. Sign up your kids for the CCC's bike camp, widely known as coolest camp in town. There are still openings through September 1 and the camp is available to children ages 6-15.
Bike Camp is an opportunity for youth to discover their own city on fun rides, learn valuable bike-mechanic skills, make new friends and, most importantly, build confidence and self-esteem. Participants will learn to read bike maps,
practice the rules of the road, fix flat tires, and go on lots of fun rides to neighborhood destinations.

12/24 HRS OF WILLAMETTE PASS | August 5 - Willamette Pass |
 After a five-year lapse, 24 hour racing returns to Oregon! The 12 and 24 Hours of Willamette Pass Mt. Bike Race is a
one-of-a-kind event where racers can choice to race 12 or 24 hours on a 14 mile loop course. Race solo, two or four person teams. There are 70 classes to choose from based on skill level, age, or gender, and there are even classes for
racers with disabilities. Racers receive a free custom race plate with their names and team names or sponsors.
The course is a mix of single track, dirt road and a little gravel road. It is a non-technical course, 14 miles and 1,500 feet climbing per lap.

PORTLAND CENTURY - August 27 - Portland: Unlike most centuries, you don't have to load up the roof racks and head out
of the house at 5 am to get to this urban-based ride. The Portland Century has 40, 60 and 100 mile routes and starts and ends at Portland State University in central Portland. The Portland Century is all about Portland: local foods at
the finish line dinner, great sites along the way, free Portland-brewed beer for all riders and a free pound of Portland-roasted coffee from Nossa Familia.
MT. BIKE OREGON - August 18-20 - Oakridge: Mountain bikers will love this chance to spend the weekend riding, camping, eating great food and drinking nighttime beers in a beautiful setting, but all you have to worry about is taking
on trail. Mt. Bike Oregon is an all-inclusive weekend of mt. biking. The event will sell out at 300 riders and is nearing that number. Early registration rates are still in place, so sign up now before the cost goes up or the event
fills up.
