THE NIGHT RIDE | July 11 - Portland
If all that daytime bicycle riding leaves you wondering what the city looks like at night, it's time you signed up for The Night Ride on July 11. The sneaky course will take you past hot fire dancers and mysteries at every turn as you head to a special outdoor bike-in screening of short bicycle movies from the wildly popular Filmed by Bike festival.

Creeping through the night, you'll travel along the Peninsula Crossing Trail on your way to the disco party rest stop where you can be a wallflower or strut your stuff on the dance floor - sugar-fueled by a gigantic array of all the best candies at the Candyland Station. And the fun keeps going as you cruise right back to where you started - to the Portland train station for a midnight all-you-can-eat doughnut feast and lively music from Zimba Marimba. The Night Ride is a benefit for the Bicycle Transportation Alliance.

The fun kicks off with the resounding drums of the Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers. There are prizes for the best costumes and decorated bikes, so don't be shy and come dressed to impress. All 3,000 riders will receive glow necklaces to ward off vampires along the way.

RIDE FREE - special offer for ORbike readers! Reach the Bridge (formerly Beat the Burnside) is a fun run and walk in support of the American Lung Association in Oregon. Participants in this reverse-timed race are challenged to run down from the Zoo to reach the Burnside Bride before it is raised at 9am sharp! CENTRAL OREGON COG WILD TOURS | All Summer Long - Oregon
The news is out: Bend is the place to ride. Mountain Bike Action named it the "Top American Mountain Biking Town" in their May 2009 issue. With over 200 miles of singletrack to get lost on, Cog Wild has your trip planned with multi-day or single trip options.

One selection is the Bike an Brew weekend where you can enjoy three days of Bend's famous singletrack and nights at local microbreweries including Deschutes Brewery, famous for their Mirror Pond Ale and Black Butte Porter. Technical riders will love the North Umpqua Trail ride where it's all about roots, rocks and you. This trail gets a lot of hype - and rightly so. You'll have to ride it yourself to find out why IMBA chose this as one of their top epic rides.

Cog Wild offers day tours, shuttles, kids camp (Bend Cycling Club) and clinics to experience central Oregon one day at a time - by bike. Ride their Bachelor to Bend tour or join them for great rides on their one-day tours. Daily shuttles take you to upper Bend trailheads and the McKenzie River Trail.

SUNDAY PARKWAYS SUPERHEROES | June, July, August - Portland
Sunday Parkways are eight mile "temporary parks" along city streets connecting neighborhoods and residents in North, Northeast and Southeast Portland. A relaxed, non-competitive, FREE event featuring a variety of activities in several parks and along the routes, Sunday Parkways gives Portlanders a chance to get out and be active right in their own neighborhoods. Intersections are staffed by volunteers, allowing residents to get to and from their driveways, with larger intersections supervised by Portland Police Bureau staff.

15,000 Portland area residents and 300 volunteers participated in last year's successful Sunday Parkways and asked for more in 2009. So this summer, three separate events are planned, meaning more volunteers are needed. The first of these three exciting events kicks off this weekend. Superheores are needed to help monitor intersections and volunteer for a variety of positions throughout this fun event. Get your friends together and sign up today.
ORbike is a sponsor of Sunday Parkways! Look for us on course and stop by to say hi! We want to hear how your summer's going, what rides you're doing and help you find the best rides to sign up for.
