Crawfish Crawl 5k | Saturday, Aug 8 – Tualatin, OR |
Part of the nation's oldest crawfish festival, the Crawfish Crawl 5k is a super fun and friendly run! This event has
always been known as a fast walking and running course and this year is no different. In fact, there has been a major remodel to the route, which should make it one of the best 5k courses in town. The majority of the run or walk will be
on a closed bike path underneath a shaded canopy of trees while the Tualatin Commons Lake provides a refreshing and festive start/finish for the race.
After the run, be sure to cash in on the complimentary Jamba Juice and hang out for the awards ceremony. Portland Running Company will be providing shoes, apparel and accessories for awards and prizes. Don't forget that the Tualatin
Crawfish Festival will be in full swing on the commons and in the City Park. The festival will have a yummy pancake breakfast near the finish line so be sure to bring the family and friends to enjoy the rest of the day.

Yaquina River Run-Off Relay | Saturday, Aug. 15th - Newport |
The Newport Recreation Center and the Toledo Wooden Boat Festival are joining forces! Their respective running events are
being combined into one fun relay race. It incorporates two popular running routes and gives runners and spectators the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the Yaquina River. This is also a great practice race for Hood to
Coast teams.
Here's the scoop: Competitive teams will be made up of five or fewer runners. Non-competitive teams may have more than five runners, however, they will not be eligible for awards. There are twenty relay legs varying in length from
approximately two to three miles. Each competitive team must have runners alternate in the same sequence. If a runner drops out, they may not run later. Teams will have maps and directions and are responsible for directing their runners.
The team with the fastest overall time wins. All finishers will receive medals and a T-shirt. Let the racing begin!

Mt. Hood Jazz Run | Sunday, Aug 16th – Gresham, OR |
The annual Mt. Hood Jazz Festival is back and so is the 5k run/walk! The course provides a tour of the beautiful Mt. Hood
Community College Campus, which includes art structures, fountains, ponds and plenty of tress to keep you cool. This event is perfect for the family as there is also a Kids' 1k/2k Fun Run where all registered participants receive a medal,
t-shirt and goodie bag.
After the 5k, an awards ceremony will be held honoring age group winners and overall male and female winners. Be sure to stick around even if you didn't don't win as they will also be raffling off some amazing prizes, such as reflective
vests, Camel Hydration Packs, running shoes, shirts, hats, restaurant gift certificates and much more. Music from the Jazz Fest starts up shortly after for you to enjoy while the kids play in the Kid's Zone – an area full of face
painters, balloon artists, bouncy houses and other exhibits.

The Freshwater Trust Portland Triathlon | Sunday, Aug 23 – Portland |
In it's third annual year, the Freshwater Trust Portland Triathlon is on it's way to becoming one of the major races in the
NW! Not only does the course highlight Portland treasures, but the level of sustainability of the event is also tough to beat – it wouldn't be Portland-esque if they didn't. Bamboo race shirts, durable bike racks from kiln-dried bamboo
poles, extensive recycling and composting, locally sourced, organic food and drink, and renewable solar power are all reasons why this event was named one of the "10 Greenest Races" by Runners World.
Participants can choose from a sprint or Olympic distance course. The swim will take place in the mighty Willamette River, starting from the docks at River Place Marina and finish on the beach just south of the Hawthorne Bridge. Next,
hop on your bike to catch some beautiful views of downtown as you wind through some forested areas. Finish up with a run along the river's shoreline as you make a loop along the Eastbank Esplanade and the Waterfront Park. Reward your
efforts at the finish line fest with a massage, music, organic food and yummy beer from Dechutes Brewery.
