Scoggins Valley Tri | Saturday, Sept 5 – Forest Grove |
This triathlon's course, which takes place in and around Hagg Lake, is famous for its race history, scenic beauty, and
demanding route. Choose from an Olympic, Sprint or Tri-iT (novice) distance, but either way, you'll be in for a treat. The Olympic course starts out with a 1500m triangular swim in the beautiful Hagg Lake. Water temperatures will be in
the mid seventies so wetsuits are recommended. Next up is a 40k bike ride on a challenging course with continuous rolling hills around the lake. The hills don't quite end with the bike ride as the 10k run incorporates some more hills you
have to conquer on a paved side lake road.
If you still want a challenge, but aren't quite ready for an Olympic distance, sign up for the sprint distance as it includes the same gorgeous scenery and hills as the Olympic distance. Or, if you aren't ready to compete, take part in
the Tri-iT triathlon – it's timed but non-competitive and shortens the swim to just a quarter of a mile. When you're all through, stick around to enjoy live music while eating a BBQ brunch. Also, as part of your registration you are
given a day use park pass to enjoy the rest of the day in the sun!

Timberline Half Marathon | Saturday, Sept 19 – Timothy Lake |
This is by far one of the most picturesque half marathons in the Pacific NW! Taking place on single track trails, this
course is a runner's dream. Runners and walkers will journey the shimmering Timothy Lake, crossing three rustic bridges over trickling streams that flow into the deep blue waters of the lake. The course is somewhat challenging as it's
full twists, turns, and small elevation changes, but the rewards are breathtaking views of Mt. Hood across the lake.
Due to the popularity of this event, they have closed registration for the half marathon on Sunday and have ADDED another chance to run the course on Saturday with the full marathoners, leaving a half hour later. Be sure to register as
soon as possible as space is limited. All participants will still receive a free t-shirt and finisher medal. You can also sign up in advance for a post-race massage – a great way to treat yourself after a demanding day!
