Clackamas River Runoff | Saturday, July 12 – Estacada, OR
This awesome multi-sport event is held in the beautiful trail system of Milo McIver State Park, which covers 951 acres and boasts panoramic views of Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Adams. Comprised of expansive open meadows, shaded wooded areas, and natural terraces draped in ferns, this park will have you looking at beauty every which way you turn.

There are four exciting courses for you to choose from: a challenging 8k and 15k trail run, and as a special treat, an off-road duathlon and triathlon. Why is it special?, you ask - this is the only time of the year when bikes are allowed on this incredible trail system. The trail runs will have you running along mostly dirt surfaces underneath a towering canopy of trees. The 15k offers a course with a lot of ups and downs and some steep hills that will test your strength and endurance. If you aren't ready for the challenge, the 8k also has some significant hills, which makes it one of the best 8k challenges anywhere.
Run in the Country | Sunday, July 13 – Coburg, Oregon
An event that started 10 years ago, designed by runners, for runners, Run in the Country is now the classic half marathon of the summer. It is a fast, fun race in a rural setting that offers a quiet getaway from the city life. The loop course winds through Coburg and then moves into the countryside, where you will run alongside wildflowers and hear the sound of birds chirping.

If you want to get the whole family involved, there is also a non-competitive half marathon walk, a half-marathon relay (three-person teams) and a kid's 400m fun run. Afterwards, everyone can hang out in the scenic Norma Pfeiffer Park for the awards ceremony and raffle drawings. The event is over by ten, so you've got the rest of the day to enjoy in the countryside!
Mt. Rainier to Pacific Relay | July 18-19 – Longmire, WA to Ocean Shores, WA
Do you have a team running in Hood to Coast? Do you want a practice event before the big day? Mt. Rainier to Pacific Relay gives you that chance. In its 20th year, this low key and racer friendly event will be a great indication to see how you and your team will perform in August. Each twelve-person team will cover 168 miles all the way from Mt. Rainier to Ocean Shores, WA. The terrain is mostly flat and rolling with no major hills and the route offers a variety of scenic areas throughout SW Washington. There are thirty-six legs to conquer, each ranging from two+ to six+ miles. Each team member will run three legs. This event also offers a one hundred mile course for a seven-person walking team and a solo run for all you ultra marathoners out there.

You will also be taken care of along the way with a midnight breakfast/shower rest stop at the midway point at Elma High School. When your team triumphantly reaches the coast, there will also be a free buffet and drinks at the finish. Hang out at the finish line festivities and receive your collector quality colored t-shirts and commemorative medals.
Deschutes Dash | July 18 - 19 – Bend, OR
Get your family and friends to come and watch you kick some butt at this very spectator friendly venue. The Deschutes Dash will include a full weekend of activities, including an Olympic Tri and Du, a Sprint Tri and Du, a 10k and 5k run, and a Kid's Splash ‘n Dash. All of these races are fundraisers for the Working Wonders Children's Museum, which provides hands-on learning experiences that are critical to childhood development.

If you are planning on participating in the Triathlon, get ready for a unique, down current swim in the beautiful Deschutes River. (Wetsuits are recommended.) The bike course is an out and back course with a slight incline on the way out and a slight descent on the back. When it's time for the run, you'll be on a combination surface of paved and packed dirt. The good news is that there is virtually no elevation gain. Overall, this is a great course for athletes of all levels. Remember those friends and family that came to watch you? The festive post-race party is a chance for everyone to hang out with great food, free beer, and live music.
