Happy Valley Fun Run & Walk | Saturday, May 16 – Happy Valley
Enjoy a beautiful, crisp spring morning while participating in one of the many course length options of the Happy Valley Fun Run & Walk. Choose from the 1500m Kid's Run, a 5k Run/Walk, or a 10k Run. A benefit for the Happy Valley Elementary School, this scenic event will take you along paved, pastoral country roads lined with spring flowers, suburban neighborhoods, and parklands. The 5k course is flat to gently rolling while the 10k course will give runners an extra challenge with some good-sized hills. Everyone gets a race-day t-shirt, but there are also plenty of awards and prizes to the winners of a wide range of age groups. You can also check out the long awaited new school building. Make sure to grab the whole family, as this is an event everyone can enjoy!
Duck Bill Thrill | Sunday, May 17 – Lowell
The University of Oregon Triathlon club is hosting this not-to-be-missed Olympic distance triathlon and relay. The open water swim is a 750 m triangular course that you will loop twice. Water temperatures average in the mid to high 60's, so make sure to wear a wet suit. If you don't own one, no worries, as you can rent one at a special rate from Eugene Skin Divers Supply.

After the swim, hop on your bike for a peaceful and scenic route that includes birch shaded creeks, historical covered bridges and pastoral countryside. This portion of the course incorporates flats, gentle slopes, and two steep but short accents. You may think that only the cold water will take your breath away, but so will the scenic running portion. The mostly flat, out and back course actually has you running across the Fall Creek Dam with dramatic views of the lake and valley. If all this sounds a little overwhelming, grab two friends and you can each choose a leg and partake in the relay race.
Ridgeline Ramble | Monday, May 25 – Eugene
This 3rd Annual classic covers the entirety of the Ridgeline Trail, which features Spencer Butte, the highest and most prominent landmark at the southern end of the Willamette Valley. You can choose from a 10k, 20k or a 20k two-person relay. Both courses are about 80% trail and hard packed dirt roads with the rest on paved streets. Get ready for some downhill running – the 20k course has a 459' drop in net elevation and the 10k isn't far behind at 341' from start to finish. Water and energy bars will be available at aide stations about every one and half miles.

There is no parking at the starts, but you can park at Lane Community College and take a courtesy shuttle from there to the trailheads. Awards will be presented in the 20K and 10K to the top three overall male and female finishers and the top three in each age group and the top three teams in each division and category. Also, all participants will be eligible for random prize drawings. This event is capped at 200, so make sure to register early, either online or in person at the Eugene Running Company through May 22.
Helvetia Half and Drop Top 10k | Saturday, June 13 – Hillsboro
In it's 9th year, this award-winning event will have you working hard during the race and relaxing hard after. The half marathon course is infamous for it's roller coaster hills that are prevalent throughout the race. If you're not up for the full half, you can choose a 10k route. Either way, you'll be rewarded with scenic views of the Willamette countryside. There are nine aid stations on course stocked with water and Gleukos, with Clif Shots available at the 6th station.

After you've survived the hills, reward yourself with a delicious burger or garden burger at the finish provided by the Helvetia Tavern. Helvetia and Widmer Brothers will also be hosting a beer garden so make sure to bring your ID and some cash. New this year, all finishers will receive a sweet technical running shirt and all half marathoners will receive a medal. A portion of the proceeds of this race go to the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society's Team in Training.
First Thursday Runs | Thursday, May 7 - Portland
If First Thursday gallery walks aren't quite your style, come be a part of this alternative "walk" (ok, run). Fit Right NW is hosting it's very own First Thursday Run and Urban Scavenger Hunt at its NW 23rd location. The rules are simple: Receive your first checkpoint location at the start. Run or walk your way to that checkpoint and when you arrive, you will be given a raffle ticket and the location of your next checkpoint. The more checkpoints you make it to, the more raffle tickets you collect for the huge raffle drawing at the finish. Try to hit as many checkpoints as you can, but remember that the raffle drawing starts at 7pm whether you are there or not.

This month's prizes include 3 pairs of New Balance shoes, 6 pairs of Teko socks, 3 pairs of Sole inserts, and 1 pair of Sole Sandals. Even if you don't end up winning any of these awesome prizes, there is Bridgeport beer and and appetizers from Santa Fe Tacqueria. FitRight will also be open until 8pm with a store-wide sale.
